The home opener for WBB Titans is this Sunday, November 13, game tips at 1:00 p.m. Canisius is 1-1 after a two-point home victory versus Buffalo and a lopsided loss at Toledo.
The Titan Club will be up and running for the game. Head coach Kate Achter will give a pre-game “chalk talk” in the room at approximately 12:00 noon.
Doors to Calihan Hall will open at 11:50 a.m.
(I wish the MBB team would play Canisius more often. One of the few Jesuit schools that would be agreeable to schedule the Titans on a home and away basis, and relatively close distance away.)

Last year, our first (and only) victory was on Feb 14.

The Titans had a 61-30 rebounding advantage in the game.
Detroit Mercy came out fast, I think it was 16-2 to start the game. Canisius had a big second quarter, the Titans pulled way ahead in the third quarter, then the Golden Griffins came back in the final stanza to make it interesting at the end.
Decent crowd for WBB, official attendance was just under 700 and I think that is not over inflated.
I believe the Titans have now matched their win total from last season.

They have matched their total for each of the past two seasons. The team has talent. Myonna Hooper, the freshman guard from West Bloomfield, is the real deal. Amaya Burch, another freshman (from New Jersey), is very good. Center Irene Murua (a junior) is a rebounding machine who gets lots of putbacks; she has a soft touch and is a good ballhandler. They're a fun team to watch. And, in true Titan fashion, they make the game exciting to the end.

Canisius has a player (Haskell) who is the prototype UDM recruit. She's from a small town near Buffalo, was a great HS player but probably a touch too small and too slow for a P5 power, but can clearly play at the mid-major level and wanted to stay close to home. She had a bad game on Sunday (5-20) but is a much better player than that.
I'd think there are many players like this in Michigan/northern Ohio who would be great fits at UDM. We're not gonna get 4 of 5 stars, but there are plenty of 2 and 3 stars who can be developed and who want to stay in the region, close to home and where their families can watch them play. Achter seems to have figured this out too, looks as if she's really recruiting regionally.
