A thrilling game. The Titans fell behind in the first quarter, played even in the second and third. Down by double-digits in the final minutes, they tightened up on defense, hit their shots and tied the game with .4 seconds -- before NIU made the impossible shot to hand the Titans a true buzzer-beater loss. The team has really turned it around from years of embarrassingly bad play.

Can you describe the final shot with .4 seconds remaining. Full court length pass or shot?

Absolute joy to watch this team! They look to be getting better with every game. I really like the play of the Spaniards and Burch who seem to really be responding to this Coach.

Can you describe the final shot with .4 seconds remaining. Full court length pass or shot? In WBB, if you call a timeout after the opponent’s made basket, a team gets to inbound from their offensive side of the court. No need for a full court length pass.

The last play was a well designed inbounds play from in front of the scorer's table with a long high pass to a player on the far side of the court at about the free throw line extended. Somehow, she managed to catch the ball, take a step and then shoot without any time running off the clock. Several people in the stands immediately noticed the clock did not start on time. The replay confirmed it. The clock did run out as the shot went down. It seemed like the referees noticed it during the replay but could find no way to rectify it. They took a long time and discussion before ruling the shot good. We will never know if the shot would have counted it the time had started properly. It was an awful way to end an incredibly entertaining well fought game. They were never ahead, but never out of it. They fought and fought till they tied with o.4 seconds left (the clock was correctly reset to 0.6 for the inbounds play). Northern Illinois was a well coached physical team. We held our own and kept coming after them. You have to love this team.

That’s the same inbound rule that exists in the NBA.

Too bad in this instance as we had fought back against a good team and had managed to gain momentum and the team was functioning well.
