Former Cleveland State coach Dennis Gates is off to a great start at Missouri. The Tigers are 8-0. Granted it's been a very soft schedule, but the Tigers did beat Wichita State on the road on Tuesday (their 1st road game of the year). They should still be undefeated when they face Kansas a week from Saturday.
D'Moi Hodge is leading the way, playing great--16.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.6 assist, shooting over 50% from the floor overall and over 40% from three. Former Horizon Leaguer D'Andre Gholston has also started all 8 games, averaging almost 10 ppg, and Tre Gomillion has played a big role as the first man off the bench.
In the old days, Hodge and Gomillion would still be at CSU, and the Vikes would be a favorite for the HL league title.

Incredible finish for the Mizzou Tigers against UCF today. Mizzou trailed 66-65 when our old pal D'Moi Hodge (Cleveland State) grabbed a defensive rebound with nine seconds left. As he got into the frontcourt he lost his footing while dribbling and fell, managing to throw a pass while on his stomach to another old pal, DeAndre Gholston (Milwaukee) who hit a bank shot from straight on 30 feet away at the buzzer. Final score Missouri 68, UCF 66.
Crazy stat: All seven of the last field goals of the game were three pointers.

Missouri passed a big test last night, crushing #16 Illinois, 93-71. The lead got up to 35 points in the second half. Hodge (20 points) and Gholston (16) supported senior guard Kobe Brown, who put up 31 points, 8 assists, and four steals. Brown has really blossomed this season under Gates.
The Tigers are 11-1. SEC play starts on December 28, so things are going to get rougher.

With several attractive college jobs opening up, Missouri moved to sign first year coach Dennis Gates to an extension, increasing his salary to 4 million per year and extending his contract through 2029.
Missouri is 24-8 after beating Tennessee today.
