I was holding out hope that we could retain him with some NIL $ and positives from the new staff! Why would you think that after he and Tankersley missed all those team meetings and individual workouts scheduled by Monty in April? I'm glad that he graduated. That was a great accomplishment for him. Since college hoops is becoming more and more a business, if I were the GM at U of D and looking to rebuild, I would not make Jayden the centerpiece of my first team. In games for us in which he played 20 minutes or more, we had a total of 3 wins, Rochester & Ohio U in 2022, then IUPUI in 2024. Jayden is an extremely gifted player athletically, but if I were hoping to retain any of the 3 guys who entered the portal last March, it would have been Ryan and Tankersley. At WVU, he has a chance to be one of the supporting cast for another coach's son. Ryan, I agree but Tankersley I don't see. Marcus plays with a lot of effort but I feel that he is at his maximum potential. Stone is already a better player than Marcus and still has more room to grow. Ryan is just starting off with a high ceiling to grow. Out of the three I would be Stone, than Ryan and lastly Marcus. I get wanting Ryan over Stone based on time left to play and potential but Marcus I can't wrap my head around over either of these two guys.
