Kate and her staff have done a great job since their arrival. They are going to win more games this year than I ever thought possible. The program is going great guns in the right direction.
But Saturday as I sat in the stands after the Cleveland State win, I watched the joy on the faces of the four players that were here from the start of this rebirth. Then I thought of Coach Collins and how proud she should be of the job she did in her brief stay here. From nothing, no players, no coaches and VERY FEW supporters she dug in and went to work. I was not one of those supporters at the beginning. I was furious over the Gilbert hire and the aftermath. I hated what was done to that team knowing many of them and their parents from pre-Covid years with Coach Scott. She reached out and got me back. She put a team together that was more competitive than they had a right to be. I am not trying to second guess the decision to let her go. I just want to remind people that she assembled a core that is invaluable to the team this year. Three starters are Coach Collins players. Amani, Irene and Emma. Lu doesn't play much but is a great teammate.
I will write a lot more about Kate and her staff, but today I just wanted to remind everyone not to forget that one year Coach who started us in the right direction. I do not know where she is these days and I know she thinks she got a raw deal here, but it is a tough business. If you don't believe that just ask Kate who never deserved to be fired at Loyola. I hope the LaTonya is doing well.

She also trolled her former players and Coach Achter's team last season on Twitter after they were held scoreless in one quarter at Bowling Green. Not a classy move on her part. Excuse me for not joining your sentiments on this one, Chuck.
She who laughs last laughs best.

The note was my reflection on what she did for us when she was employed by the University. BTW, her dismissal was not handled in the classiest manner either.

Yes, Collins did recruit the core of this year's team. Even Hooper and maybe even Burch were her recruits. I recall the early concern by some when so many players decided to stay and play here for Coach Achter even though another coach had recruited them. I'm happiest for those players who get to experience success. They will remember this good experience for the rest of their lives.
