Assuming UDballer was making a joke but just so everyone knows: it's Finals Week at U-D; hence the reason for the extended game break.

Alec O. transferred from Cleveland State to UNCW in April. He's now back in the transfer portal.

If we're concerned about losing a non-con game at home to an awful CMU team... we're in worse shape than I thought. Plus... I'm thinking we don't have to protect our at large chances this season. There's only one path to the NCAA tourney this year and it has nothing to do with this weekend... win or lose.

It doesn't reference fear of losing a meaningless game to the Chippewas. π So we've got one thread reporting on how difficult it is to play games without sufficient rest and adequate travel time, and how it causes teams to lose games they should win, and how it damages players' confidence and fan enthusiasm. And we've got the countervailing argument by Baller that, what the hell, if we can play Duke in Durham 16 hours before playing Central in Detroit, let's just do it. Seems there are always two sides to every argument.

It doesn't reference fear of losing a meaningless game to the Chippewas. π That's how I see it. If we were in the running for an at large bid that would be hurt by a loss to CMU, I wouldn't be interested in the Duke game. But that's not the case. Our schedule pretty much ensured we weren't going to be in the running for an at large bid before the season started. I would hope that most of our players would be hyped up to test themselves against a blue blood program in one of college basketball's most famous arenas. Plus we get a check. If the price for that is a quick turnaround to play a bad CMU team, so be it. Central is 1-9. We should be able to beat them on short rest. And if we don't, we're basically in the same boat we were before and we have ten days to recover before we play our next game. We're at our limit for games so we can't try to get the opportunity but if we could, I'd take that game, make the most of the experience, and put that check in the cookie jar marked "Move to a Better Conference Fund".

Anderson Mirambeaux is ranked #22 on Lindy's list of JUCO recruits entering D1. It took almost the entire season, but AM finally gave Cleveland State the type of performance I thought he might give them regularly. He got 6 points, 10 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals, and a block in only 15 minutes against Milwaukee on February 18. One the season, he's only averaging 1 point and two rebounds in five minutes per game. He's a big guy, playing at over 300 pounds. Maybe too big. That's about 30 pounds above his listed weight in JUCO.

First three years for Dennis Gates at Cleveland State.
Year One: HL Coach of the Year
Year Two: Regular season champ, conference tournament champ. NCAA tournament appearance.
Year Three: Regular season champ.
Hiring an assistant coach to be your head coach can be hit or miss. Cleveland State hit a home run.
