Cleveland State lands another 2024 recruit, getting a commitment from Jeshwan Stevenson from Illinois. Stevenson is ranked a three star recruit by 24/7 and had offers from Northern Illinois and St. Louis, among others. Solid pick up. 247sports.com/player/jeshawn-stevenson-46141942/

This did turn out to be a very good pick up for Gates, at both Cleveland State and Missouri. Averaged 14 ppg for his career, and had his best season in his Covid bonus year at Missouri, averaging just under 15ppg while shooting 40% from three. He made all conference and all defensive teams in the HL and was on the All SEC tourney team at Mizzou. He was 2021-22 HL Defensive Player of the Year. Bringing this up now because I saw that he scored his first NBA points for the Los Angeles Lakers this week.

The reason Garrett's leaving is important is that CSU has an assistant AD who was our marketing and promotions guy about 15 years ago. He's now in charge of CSU's Viking Fund. I would like to see him considered here for a more important position when Vowels retires.

And that guy is a U-D alum, a really good guy, a passionate and hard worker, sharp as a tack, and everyone who has ever met him likes him. We lost him because of money - it's time to make him an offer he can't refuse to come home.

The Vikings have reportedly gained two new commitments from transfers.
Tahj Staveskie is a transfer from Canisius. The just completed his sophomore year, but appeared in only 2 games. In his freshman year for the Gryphons, he averaged 12 points per game. He's a 6 foot guard from Sandusky, so it's a bit of a homecoming.
Issac Abidde is a transfer from Wichita State. He's a 6-8 forward who has played two years for the Shockers, averaging 3 points and 2 rebounds in about ten minutes per game.
