Wow, now I'm even more excited about our incoming recruits, since apparently, a three star player from our own backyard isn't even good enough to receive an offer from us! Davis must have a bunch of 4 star players lined up!

verbalcommits lists him as a 2-star recruit. Of course, one might ask why Dwayne Stephens at WMU couldn't sign a Ferndale HS grad when WMU had offered him, too. Or Stan Heath at EMU which had also offered him.

Or Stan Heath at EMU which had also offered him. Verbal Commits does a lot of things well, but they don't rank players. They might list where the top players are ranked by other organizations, but they don't even do that for the vast majority of players outside of the top 150. Everyone else they list as a two star. That's why they have Sonny Johnson listed as a two star. But I'll play along. WMU didn't sign Drake because they already have three ranked guards in the class of 2022. All of them are considered better prospects than Drake. Heath didn't sign him because he already has Tyson Acuff and Orlando Lovejoy coming in for the class of 2022, and is returning leading scorer guard Noah Farrakhan, who was a four star in high school and has sophomore eligibility. Two other Eagle guard returnees also have sophomore eligibility. Both of those backcourts are pretty full. I didn't question why the Titans didn't pursue Drake, but it is reasonable to ask. If the Titans had signed the recruiting classes for 2022 that EMU and WMU have, no Titan fans would be worrying about Drake. If Davis ends up signing a class of say Watts, Willis, Polk, Carpenter, or some similar players, we probably won't have anyone wondering about Drake. But we're no where near that class yet.

This is a Detroit message board, so I wouldn't expect to have posters question why WMU or EMU aren't signing specific players It's time to get to work and provide some positive results- I'll leave it at that

Davis must have a bunch of 4 star players lined up! All I was trying to do was be positive (in a slightly sarcastic way) as to why we wouldn't show interest in a 3* player from very close by. Not all that different from the posters that insinuate players are transferring out because more/better talent is on the way and those (leaving) players can see the handwriting on the wall as far as playing time, etc.

And all 6 of his 2021 MAC offers disappeared. We have a 3* freshman PG already signed in Johnson. We have a 4* combo guard in Stone transferring here. And we had our own all-time leading scorer decide to play his 5th year here. We appear to be pretty solid at guard. Drake is not going to solve our roster holes at forward and the post. And until we know what other players are replacing our transfers out and Willy, then I guess we can turn every local kid into a potential great player.

You're right again - we do appear to be "pretty solid" at guard - thanks for pointing out my error in thinking. I should probably stop the Rocket Watts talk/wishful thinking (and tell AD this) since at this point we're pretty solid at guard. I wonder if Oakland or maybe MSU can find room for him?

We have AD and role players and AD and McAdoo are gone next season. Stone was a four star recruit 3 years ago but for two years he has averaged 3 ppg while racking up a bunch of DNP-CD at Grand Canyon. Maybe he will be this year's Akec. Or maybe he will be this year's Oduro. He's not a known quantity like Noah at EMU, their former four star who averaged 17ppg last year while hitting 41% from three. McAdoo is a supporting player capable of a big game but not a consistent scorer or assist man. Kyle plays hard and is a tough defender, but has not a factor on offense. I expect big things from Johnson in his career, but I don't know what we will get from him his freshman year. Drake got a bunch of MAC offers last summer. They didn't disappear. No one is trying to turn him into a great player, but since when do we not need a guard who is a three star recruit with a bunch of MAC offers?

Dylan Arnett, 2022 big man who was previously headed to UW-Milwaukee with previous coaching staff, has committed to Cleveland State.

It will be interesting to see how he fits in and if he gets a waiver. He is talented.
