I suppose we should be glad that he stayed for two years.

Of course he is. He'll have offers. I'm not optimistic, but hopefully we'll have an expeditious search for a new HC, and the new guy will convince Marcus to stay.

In the post-injunction world re:NIL, this is Mark asking for offers from NIL collectives 9 days before the portal opens.

Mark came here because his high school coach played for Davis at IU. Did anyone here really expect, even if there were no NIL out there, that he would stay once Davis left. You asked for change and got it. This is one of the possible costs.

He'll certainly get some interest, likely from some Conference USA and AAC type teams. I don't expect him back, but I'd be glad to be wrong.

You asked for change and got it. This is one of the possible costs. There are far worse things than losing players from 1-31 teams. Even the better ones, like Tank. Ask Kate Achter how she would have fared this year if Irene Murua, Emma Trawally Porta, and Imani McNeal had left after their 1-win season two years ago. I would suggest that you shouldn't be so flippant on the player retention issue. Especially since a strong case can be made that the 1-win record resulted mostly from the absence of certain types of players on the roster than from the players themselves. This year's team was missing a couple of important pieces. But they played hard. They never gave in like some of you did when you called for boycotts. You want players with that character to remain. Add some new blood and different skills to the group and you get improvement. Bring in 13 new players, then it's a crap shoot. So, yes, I hope that Mark decides to stay once he meets the new coach and gains some level of comfort and trust with that person.

At the end of the day there is only two players I would really want to stay. I am not trying to knock any of the players just say they need to keep working on their game to be better than a 1-30 win player in D1 program. It would be Stone and Alex.

In my opinion Stone might be the best player of the entire Mike Davis Era! Stone is a complete player who can defend, pass, shoot, rebound and attack the basket.

Nicest guy too just kind of lives in his own world, so much so that I could see him coming back just because he doesn’t even care about going pro yet. Someone on team told me a few days ago that he found out on twitter that coach was fired and he was gone by the time they had a meeting about it which is so UDM that I’m not even suprised. Also saw mak in class earlier and he says he’s back for 2 more years as long as the new coach doesnt force him out.

It seemed as if they didn’t give him the opportunity to, it was only the assistants and vowels.
