Scores for March 13, 2024. Seasons end, champs are crowned.
TICKETS PUNCHED Montana State 85, Montana 70. State championship and conference tourney title goes to Montana State. McNeese 92, Nicholls 76. McNeese is 30-3. Their 19 game improvement from season to season is an NCAA record. Colgate 74, Lehigh 55. Four straight tournament titles for Colgate, and fifth in the last six years.
OTHER GAMES OF INTEREST Xavier 76, Butler 72 Providence 74, Georgetown 56. Providence goes 3-0 this year against former coach Ed Cooley and the Hoyas. Villanova 58, DePaul 57. A Nova three with less than nine seconds to go was the difference.
Maryland 65, Rutgers 51 Penn State 66, Michigan 57
Florida State 86, Virginia Tech 76 Wake Forest 72, Notre Dame 59 NC State 83, Syracuse 65 Boston College 76, Clemson 55. Surprise. Clemson was a dark horse pick to win the ACC tourney in some circles. Cincinnati 72, Kansas 52. The Jayhawks played without two starters, but it was still a nice win for the Bearcats. TCU 77, Oklahoma 70. The Sooners were ranked #7 in the country at one point, but have dropped 6 of their last 8. Kansas State 78, Texas 74. Kansas State keeps their slim at large hopes alive.
USC 80, Washington 74. Could USC win the last PAC 12 tournament? Possibly. They've got the second most talented roster in the league. UCLA 67, Oregon State 57 Stanford 87, Cal 76 (OT) Rough year for Stanford, but they do end their rival's season. Something to be said for that. They overcame an 18 point second half deficit. Utah 90, Arizona State 57. Blowout from the beginning.
Georgia 64, Missouri 59 Arkansas 90, Vanderbilt 85
Fresno State 77, Wyoming 73. The Cowboys end the season at 15-17, 8-10, a nice improvement over last season's 9-22, 4-14. Grambling 56, Alabama State 50

Crazy stat from last night's action: Utah did not miss a two point shot in the first half of their blowout win over Arizona State.

Houston just held TCU scoreless for the first 9:30 of their Big 12 tournament game. That Houston D is ruthless. The Cougar offense, however, can be hit or miss, which is why the score is only 20-10 late in the first half.
Also, Wisconsin has doubled up Maryland, 78-38, with 7:30 left.

Crazy stat from last night's action: Utah did not miss a two point shot in the first half of their blowout win over Arizona. True about blowout but they only shot 44% from 2pt range in the 2nd half so that 1st half stat is misleading

True about blowout but they only shot 44% from 2pt range in the 2nd half so that 1st half stat is misleading Not quite sure how their 2nd half shooting makes their first half stat "misleading." Huh? Hey boss, ok lm explain when sam they shot 100 from 2-pt range, that would assume they made a boat load of 2pt jumpers but they only had 3 2pt jumpers the entire first half and the rest were dunks and layups if I would have posted and said the Utes only had 3 2-pt jumpers the entire first half some of the boys on here like friar pro j Titan Mike Dave Steve tom Larry hell even bookmsn would have been freakin Im just trying to make sure the journalistic integrity of this post is solid look I know it gets hot in the desert and maybe sam was just trying to finish the post and call it a day before the coyotes rolled it but iits all good and that why I said it was misleading So let’s roll this back and keep it hundy this time. Here we go. The Utes were perfect in 2-pt % in the first half. They were super extra with layups and dunks and made a bunch of 3pts but only had 3 jumpers. That my friend is how it should be done. I hope this will Challange sam to up him score card game and spread the love

That’s literally “remarkable,” I.e. worth remarking on.

Scores for March 14, 2024. No champs crowned, but many dreams died.
#1 Houston 60, TCU 45. The Horned Frogs fell behind 16-0 to start the game, but actually outscored the grandsons of Phi Slamma Jamma the rest of the way. #7 Iowa State 76, Kansas State 57 #14 Baylor 68, Cincinnati 56. This is the best Bearcat team in years, but the record won't reflect it. The jump to the Big 12 was a big one. #25 Texas Tech 81, #20 BYU 67
#2 UConn 87, Xavier 60. Huskies keep rolling. Providence 78, #8 Creighton 73. Big win for Providence who is still hoping for an at large bid. #10 Marquette 71, Villanova 65 St. John's 91, Seton Hall 72
#4 North Carolina 92, Florida State 67. The Heels win in a blowout and keep their starters from playing excessive minutes. NC State 74, #11 Duke 69. The world is better when Duke loses. (Just kidding Kirky. Kind of.) Pittsburgh 81, Wake Forest 65
#6 Arizona 70, USC 49. #22 Washington State 79, Stanford 62. Stanford released their head coach after the game. Oregon 68, UCLA 66 Colorado 72, Utah 58

#18 Utah State 87, Fresno State 75. FSU immediately fired their coach after the game. Colorado State 85, #23 Nevada 78 San Diego State 74, UNLV 71. New Mexico 76, Boise State 66 Some think that the Mountain West could get six teams in the Dance.
Duquesne 65, #24 Dayton 57. Surprise. St. Joseph's 66, Richmond 61. Another regular season champ falls. And I believe that Richmond need to win the tourney to get to the Big Dance. St. Bonaventure 75, Loyola Chicago 74 (OT). The Ramblers will be kicking themselves because they looked like a favorite to win the conference tourney with Dayton and Richmond falling.
Michigan State 77, Minnesota 67. AJ Hoggard went 6-6 from the floor and 4-4 from the line on his way to 17 points. Kent State 67, Toledo 59. The drought continues. Bowling Green 66, Central Michigan 56 Ohio 82, Western Michigan 55

Scores for March 16, 2024. An ACC team completes one of the most impressive runs I've seen in a conference tournament.
#7 Iowa State 69, #1 Houston 41. Biggest beatdown of a #1 ranked team since UCLA with Alcindor beat Houston with Hayes.
# 2UConn 73, #10 Marquette 57. The Golden Eagles hung tough for awhile, but the Huskies pulled away at the end.
Wisconsin 76, #3 Purdue 75. A shot at the buzzer put it into overtime. #13 Illinois 98, Nebraska 87. The Illini trailed by 11 at the break but dominated the second half, 58-36. Terrence Shannon had 40.
NC State 84, #4 North Carolina 76. The Wolfpack won five games in five days. They beat Louisville, Syracuse, Duke, Virginia, and the Heels. Prior to the league tourney, they were on the outside looking in at the Big Dance, but now have the automatic bid. Kevin Keats was on the hot seat, but a provision in his contract gives him an automatic two year extension if he wins the ACC tourney.
#12 Auburn 73, Mississippi State 63 Florida 95, Texas A&M 90
UAB 93, South Florida 83. The Bulls fall in the AAC semis after winning the regular season championship. Despite a 24-7, 16-2 record, they aren't projected to be in the field of 68. Temple 74, FAU 73. Temple, 5-13 in league play, knocks off last year's Cinderella.
New Mexico 68, San Diego State 61
Oregon 75, Colorado 68. The Ducks were not a lock for the Big Dance but took it out of the committee's hands.
Vermont 66, UMass Lowell 61. Vermont is making NCAA tournament appearances a regular thing. Howard 70, Delaware State 67. Back to back tourney titles for the Bison. Seth Towns, originally in the class of 2016, had 16 and 8 for Howard. Saint Peter's 68, Fairfield 63. A couple of years after the run to the Elite Eight, SPU is back in the Dance. Akron 62, Kent State 61. Akron gets two free throws with five seconds left to win the MAC tournament.
Western Kentucky 78, UTEP 71. A few years back, WKU hired Rick Stansbury and the basketball media projected greatness for the Hilltoppers. Stansbury started out landing big time, Top 100 recruits, including a couple of five stars, but couldn't get over the hump. Stansbury won over 60% of his games, but only made a couple of NITs in his seven year stint and was fired. This year's team only went 8-8 in league play, but in a Conference USA weakened by defections to the AAC, they got hot at the right time and grab the auto bid.
Grambling 75, Texas Southern 66 Long Beach State 74, UC Davis 70 Grand Canyon 89, UT Arlington 74

#13 Illinois 93, Wisconsin 87.
Yale 62, Brown 61. Heartbreak for Brown. The Bears led by 4 with a minute left.
Duquesne 57, VCU 51. The Dukes get their first NCAA bid since Norm Nixon was starting for them.
UAB 85, Temple 69. Temple finished 11th in the AAC, but beat SMU, Charlotte, and Florida Atlantic to reach the title game. UAB finished fourth in the league, but took out regular season champ South Florida in the semis.
