I like Pat Donnelly of U of D Jesuit as an out-of-box coaching idea. He was a head coach at D3 Elmira college, has an outstanding reputation as a coach, recruiter, and administrator, and he knows Detroit. I’m not sure if he wants us or to be a college coach at this stage of his life (late 50s I believe). We can't recruit a player from UD Jesuit. What makes you think we can get a coach from there? |

I suspect that UofD Jesuit once was a pipeline for football players at UofD. However, were they ever a pipeline to the basketball program? Chris Jenkins (UofD Jesuit, 2012) is the last player I can think of who came from the high school -- and that was after a stint at, I think, Colorado. Is there any history of Cubs coming to Calihan?

Mic drop! Sad but true...ah Mercy, the stellar program... Maybe the coach has been steering them away. Giving him the job after all these years of not getting any players from there would be wrong. If we do end up going with a HS coach Donnelly should be way down that list. |

I think Perry actually boycotted UDM for not hiring him when we hired Ricky Birdsong! |

I think Perry actually boycotted UDM for not hiring him when we hired Ricky Birdsong! Not true rc, Southwestern and Perry Watson was a dynasty back in the day 1984 - 1990. All Americans like Jalen Rose and Voshon Lenard. Plus, classmates Elton Carter and Howard Eisley. Best players wanted to leave for the bigger programs. If we had one of those guys, we would have had a great time at home court. I like to see Montgomery have a chance to be the next coach since he had some good luck in recruiting. We just need some NIL and a supporting fanbase. |

Actually, we had several players from Southwestern in the late 80s or early 90s before Perry arrived at UD. I’m thinking of Benson, Johnson, Lovelace….possibly one of them was from Cooley.
