You can get transfers with 2-3 years of eligibility. Freshmen can also leave after 1 year Shouldn’t happen that often if the coach is doing his job. We had more than other teams in our league because the only thing that mattered was AD. If there is no team fee, you feel you can contribute more than the guy getting more time and not much campus life, why stay? There is churn on all the rosters in the HL and everywhere in college ball. Reigning HL champ Oakland is losing seven important players. Three are graduating; one played at Oakland his entire career, a second came in for one season as a graduate student, and the third played at three programs in five years. Four more transferring; two played four years a Oakland and will move on to be graduate students at their next stops, one played two seasons at Oakland and one played single season in Oakland. And it's not just the HL. Powerhouses like UNC and Duke lose freshmen every year, and they also bring grad students in for one season. It's overall a sad state, IMHO.

You ain't just bumpin' your gums, NCT. I hope Mark Emmert and Ed O'Bannon are very proud of themselves. They ruined college sports, the first by neglect, the second by relentlessly pushing the disastrous NIL.

They ruined college sports, the first by neglect, the second by relentlessly pushing the disastrous NIL. Disagree to a degree on this. Mark Emmert yes. I don't fault Ed O'Bannon for the current system. Yes, his lawsuit may have been a spark that started the conversations. However, for decades players images were being used and profited off of. Ed was right in that if they are being profited off of then they should also be compensated. As a result of that you have cases like NCAA football video game being released again with every player being compensated for it. It is a modest amount, however, this was the goal. Players have been being paid for decades to play college athletics. It is spoken about more freely now by former players that they were being paid while in college as well. I think the current environment has made public a lot of what was happening behind the scenes previously. It has also been pimped by many, which comes with the territory. Was it not politicians who pushed for and passed legislature enabling NIL?

Everything evolves. The more the "established way" holds on and resists, the more radical the change will be. NCAA should have addressed the problems of athletes transferring and of paying athletes long ago and the change wouldn't have been so radical.

Trent Johnson put his name in the portal, it will be interesting to see where he signs. Although he played in only seven games last season, I thought he was quite effective.
