Yes, leaving Hamtramck for new digs. But not downtown, this will be in Southwest Detroit.

Technically still Corktown, its going to be bordered by 75 to the north and to the west, with Corktown to its east (i.e. a relative stone's throw to Two James distillery, train station, etc). Detroit Public Works uses a sizable piece of land directly on the eastern border of the new stadium land, would be interesting if they are able to move that somewhere else esp as Corktown continues to re-develop and grow and it'd fill in a big piece between the new stadium and the rest of it all on Michigan Ave.

I went off of a headline, should have known better. Nonetheless in a great location for both Corktown and Southwest. Walking distance from both areas.

Any idea what DPW uses that land for?

It says Traffic Engineering - and if you do a google map satellite view you'll see how scruffy and ugly the whole property is including piles of oranges barrels and dividers, metal gates, lots of random trucks and pieces of machinery/equipment. This is the address --> 2633 Michigan Ave, Detroit, MI 48216
I suppose its close to downtown so for big events its good to have easy access to this kind of inventory and such, but honestly I'm well out of my depth in knowing what the division even does! I just know its an ugly piece (and use) of land that will stand out more and more as Corktown continues is resurgence.

Thinking outside the box, I’m wondering if there might have been any way the DCFC stadium could have been built at the current site of Titan Field. Joint use for DCFC games and UDM soccer, lacrosse, etc. There use to be a large football stadium on that corner of campus as I recall. The University could have long-term leased the land for $1 in exchange for use privileges. A classic looking modern stadium (perhaps a bit sunken into the ground to not overwhelm the adjacent neighborhood visually) that would complement the campus structures. It would have brought some life to campus and entire Liv6 area, given UDM the best outdoor facility in the Horizon League. Might have resulted in a bit of spin-off development on Livernois (bars, restaurants, etc.). Not everything in Detroit has to be built at or close to downtown. Yes, parking would have to been figured out, but that might even be more problematic in Corktown.
