Was Hurst on the bench?

Frenchie had 4 pts, 2 rebs in 17 mins. 0-4 from 3 pt….a 6-11 perimeter player….agree with RBJ that Okoro will get a long look. Also, Kuac, last years perimeter player, takes down 10 rebs while only taking one shot …?….

Frenchie had 3 blocks in the first half but picked up a 3rd foul early to checking in in the second half and didn’t come back in. Shot selection was a tad poor for him but a lot of them came late in the shot clock. Okoro and Kuac also had a block so it’ll be nice to see legitimate rim protection, something the titans haven’t had in forever.
Overall though they just seemed out of synch rotation wise which will happen when your coach isn’t there, but there was no lack of fight. They came out down 10-2 early and it was neck and neck the rest of the way just couldn’t get one to go over the last few possessions.
Manciel had an absolutely disgusting putback dunk which is funny because I recall some people saying he had no athleticism lol. Johnson is also a beast doesn’t look like a freshman at all. 11 points a piece for that pair.

Orlando Lovejoy shot poorly, in 27 minutes he was 2-11 from the field. I assume he played PG however, he had only 1 assist.
I going to chalk it up to an 'off night' because it's my understand he's quite talented and very focused.

Also just noticed Kuac was +11 in only 17 minutes on the floor.

In terms of a 'guesstimate', are we looking at something long the lines of the follow for an 8 player rotation?
Backcourt: Lovejoy, Manciel, Johnson, & Hurst
Frontcourt: Tchikou, Geeter, Kuac & Okoro

That looks like a reasonable, if not overwhelming, rotation. I think we will need to emphasize defense, rebounding and GRIT.

Backcourt: Lovejoy, Manciel, Johnson, & Hurst Frontcourt: Tchikou, Geeter, Kuac & Okoro Team is more likely to be about 10 deep. Hurst hasn’t been getting much run although it’s super early. look for Jared Larry to assert himself early as a legit backcourt option. 6-6 ball handler with great athleticism.

I was there. The crowd size was legit. What has not changed is the sound system. Almost impossible to hear on the upper level. Scoreboard did not show who was on the floor or points or fouls. Only team fouls. Tom Ryan could have helped by announcing a players total fouls after he announced who committed the foul. If the scoreboard is not fixable it would be beneficial to communicate that to the team supporters, the few of us remaining.. On the surface it looks like same old Vowels attention to details.

Crowd size was accurate. Team played hard - rebounding and blocked shots will be a strength this year. I like our size in the front and back court - Monty recruiting big guards like a power conference would - 6'4" and above instead of under 6'. Lary and Johnson looked good. Team shooting a problem - hopefully some improvement as the season advances - I believe there is potential but we are so young and inexperienced - growing pains for sure - team roots for each other which is always what you want.

I’m very optimistic that this team will be a tough defensive minded team. This is a GREAT start. Winning will come, as long as we play defense.

It will be interesting to see if Jared Larry and Emmanuel Kuac end up sharing minuets at SF, it appears both players are quite athletic.

Monty was out with the flu or something like it. Lamonta Stone acted as the head coach. Two of the refs were HL regulars. Another inauspicious start to a season. Someone who was there kept me updated during the game. His assessment in the 2nd half while we were leading: "Man defense is OK. Rebounding is good. Shooting is bad." Photos suggest that something like the announced attendance was accurate. I'm just so tired of losing the annual exhibition game on our home court to the D2 team. We've lost 4 out of 5 games in this charity deal since the AD changed direction at the end of the 2015-16 season. Reminds me of the Lions when Russ Thomas was the GM. The Pistons lost the same night that the Titans lost to Wayne State. I felt an uncomfortable sense of deja vu. I don't think I can take another season where both of my hometown teams are that bad. I was glad to see Alex T finally get game action. He had an ugly stat line, but the big number was the 16 minutes that he played. I do not have high expectations for the team this season, but I definitley would have liked to see us beat the D2 team that shares our City. It will also be interesting to see how the attendance for this game compares with the rest of the season. Go Titans.

At this point in time, I'm cautiously optimistic about this season. We have some talented players and I like the fact the squad was practicing as a team over the course of the Summer. Also, the coaching staff is definitely more energize and engaged than last season.
