I came across this preview of the Arizona State front court and both Shaq and Sai were prominently mentioned. Shaq is expected to start for the Sun Devils, but has only one year of eligibility. Sai is expected to try compete for minutes off the bench, but per this article he has three years of eligibility left. I know there is no use in crying over spilled milk (speaking of Twin Pines Dairy), but man, those guys would have looked good in Titan uniforms this year. www.houseofsparky.com/2013/11/6/5067704/asu-basketball-jordan-bachynski-pac-12

13 minutes and no points in a starting role for Shaq in the Box last night. He's averaging 5 points (he's been scoreless twice) and shooting 39% from the floor.
Sai played eight minutes off the bench last night and did not score. He's averaging six minutes and two points per game, shooting 43% from the floor.
Sai's got three years of D1 eligibility so he has time to make his presence felt at ASU. Shaq is done with college after this year, so hopefully he's happy with playing a minor role with a BCS school. I'm sure he enjoys playing on a winning team, though, and ASU has a good shot of being an NCAA tourney team.

Looks like Shaq is finding his way at ASU the past couple of games. He looked good when I saw them play DePaul. I'll get another close look at him when Texas Tech goes to ASU.
Jon Rothstein @jonrothstein 11m Shaquielle McKissic is starting to get into a groove 4 Arizona St. 33 points + 13 rebounds in past 2 games. Will be in Sun Devils' mix @ SF.

I thought it might be of interest to get an update on Shaq in the Box and Sai Tummmala. In three magazine previews I have read (Lindy's, Sporting News, and Athlon), Shaq McKissic is prominently mentioned as a key player for Arizona State. He ended the year playing very well, and his sixth year of eligibility was a pleasant surprise for the Sun Devils. He played in 32 games last year, starting 26, and averaged 9 points and 5 rebounds in 28 minutes per game. He shot a respectable 47% from the floor. Each magazine mentions him as a key player for ASU this season.
The outlook is less bright for Sai. He is a junior this year, and saw action in 15 games last season. He averaged 5 ppg in the games he saw action. He was not mentioned by name in any of the three previews. ASU brings back both starting forwards from last season and also brought in three junior college front court players. Two of the JUCOs were highly ranked players who are expected to see immediate playing time for the Sun Devils. Unfortunately for Sai, he might be left out of the rotation again.
If you are interested, here's an interview with Shaq from the ASU media day:

Jon Rothstein interviewed Arizona State coach Herb Sendek and talked about expectations for the Sun Devils team. Rothstein posted several quotes from Sendek, about multiple players. Sendek spoke highly of Shaq. Rothstein didn't post any quotes about Sai, which means either Sendek didn't mention him or the quotes weren't seen as significant. On the other hand, on the Sun Devil's message board, there was a comment from a poster that Sai shot the ball very well in the team's open practice.
Of course, we'll get to see them up close and personal on December 23 when they play the Titans, if we can get the PAC 12 network or the game is available via another outlet.

Here's the nicest thing I've seen written about Sai since he left JUCO, at least concerning his on the court performance.
From the Twittersphere:
Padraig O'Brien @gnghoops · Apr 3 Avail 5th yr player/Sai Tummala/6-7 small fwd/graduating fro Ariz St/Was buried on the bench but I'm convinced he's a solid mid-major player

Sai is transferring to Hawaii. Dude loves the warm weather. :-) Interesting career arc for Sai. He started out at Michigan, moved to a year at JUCO, and then two years at Arizona State. In his four years of college ball, he really only played the one year at JUCO. On the plus side, he has done a great job academically, and seems to be on the path of becoming a doctor. Good for him.
