Look for Butler's fundraising to get a big boost. Former Bulldog Gordon Hayward just agreed to a four year, $63 million contract. Lots of money for a guy whose best season was last year, where he averaged 16 points and five rebounds per game.

Utah can, and they've said that they will match it. So it doesn't matter which team he winds up with, he gets that 63mil. I wonder how much of donation he'll make and what it will go towards?

You never know. Former Titan Willie Green never signed a contract for that kind of money, but after his first "Big" deal, he paid to redo the Titan locker room at Calihan Hall. My understanding is that he has been generous towards the program, but I'm not aware of the specifics. He has also held his annual basketball camp (part of the Willie Green Foundation) at Calihan Hall in years past.

As part of the Hinkle Fieldhouse renovation, Butler has a brand new video scoreboard named after Gordon Hayward Not sure if he made his big contribution before or after he signed his new deal.

Gotta admit, my concerns about Butler not being able to compete in the Big East were incorrect. The Bulldogs went down to SEC country and beat Ole Miss tonight, 67-58. Butler is #24 in the country. The Bulldogs have made the NCAA tournament four times in the past five years, and appear headed that way again. Former Milwaukee coach Lavell Jordan (also a former Titan coaching candidate, at least on paper) has the team humming in his third season with the program. I really thought they would struggle to have that level of success in the Big East, but they have the definition of a good program, with buy in and cooperation from all levels of the University. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/recap?gameId=401168292

The successful programs view their fans as assets, the programs that are failing view their fans as nuisances.
