Anton Wilson currently has 187 career three pointers, good for 5th on the Titans all time list. He needs 15 to catch Jon Goode for fourth. If he continues more or less at his current pace, he'll catch Goode in one of the last two regular season games, against Valpo or Oakland. It's unlikely he'll catch Dwayne Kelley for third all time - Kelley has 224. He would need to step up his production and have a long Titan post-season run.
Wilson has 907 career points. Assuming no injuries, the Titans have a minimum of 7 remaining games (6 regular season and at least one post-season). Averaging 13.3 points for 7 games would get him to 1000 for his career, which would make him the 40th Titan to reach that threshold. So far this year he is averaging 15 points per game overall, 16.3 since conference play began. He would appear a solid candidate to pass Jerry Swartzfager (1000) and Ralph Goldstein (1001) for 38th place on the Titans all-time list. He would need to step it up a bit beyond his Horizon average to catch Eli Holman (1024 points) for 37th. Larry Salci (1059) is 36th. That would require him to average 19 points if the Titans played 8 more games. I think that unlikely. Over 9 games -- that would be the Titans getting to the Horizon semi-finals--he would have to average 16.9 -- still tough.
Anton's career 3 point percentage is 41.83%, which ranks him second best in Titan history. He's barely ahead of #3 Bill Wood (41.5%), so he could slip down. Tony Tolbert and Jon Goode are 4th at 40.9%. If Anton continues his current trends for another 7 games he'll finish with a career percentage of about 42.3%. Archie Tullos is first at 43.3%. Anton would have to burn up the nets like he never has before to catch Tullos.
Anton's career free throw percentage is 85.49%. He only reached the minimum required attempts to be ranked in the Titans' all-time record books this past week-end, but in doing so he now ranks third all-time in career free throw percentage, behind Archie Tullos and Rashad Phillips, and ahead of 4th Larry Salci (84.2%). If he went really cold he could fall behind Salci. He probably can't catch Tullos (88.1%) or Phillips (87.5%).
On the single season front, Anton needs to make 5 more three pointers (he has 68) to crack the single season top ten list. That should happen this coming weekend, or possibly the next. Five more will tie him for 9th with Jason Calliste (2013) and Rashad Phillips (1999). One more after that ties him for 7th with Dwayne Kelley (1993) and Greg Grays (2001). If he continues to make about 3 per game, he'll relatively easily record the second most in a season, behind only Rashad Phillips' 136 in 2001, and ahead of Phillips 102 in 2000. His .456 percentage this year is the second best ever, after Archie Tullos's 48.1% in 1987. Third is Jon Goode at 44.6% in 2008, and 4th is Derrick Hayes at 44.4% in 1998.
His current 87.5% free throw percentage this year is the Titans third best ever. Again, he's unlikely to catch #1 Rashad Phillips (91.6%, 2001) or #2 Archie Tullos (90.8%, 1988). #4 is Phillips (2000, 87.0%), so Wilson could slip a notch or two.
Anton is not a great player, but he's a good player and he's played a lot of games as a Titan (he should end up 4th all time, behind Phillips, Terrell Riggs, and Evan Bruinsma). He's certainly been one of the best pure shooters we've ever had in the 63 year history of Calihan Hall. Over the next few weeks I hope he has at least one more really big game, and that Titan fans will use that to appreciate his pure shooting ability.
