I wonder if some candidates are waiting to see what other possibilities open up? Maybe not likely, but there were some recent coaching dismissals that could have a domino effect and open up some other attractive jobs. Obviously, I'm just speculating. Once the decision to let Ray go was announced, I expected a replacement rather soon. It's only been about ten days, so perhaps things are just taking a normal course. Hopefully we hear something soon. I'm not sure I want to hire a candidate who is waiting to see if something else opens up before accepting.

Since the university takes federal money and there was no immediate decision to promote an assistant, the AD has to adhere to a hiring process that is open to as many qualified applicants as possible. That can take 3-4 weeks.

This week-end and the next are official "evaluation periods." During this time, "a college coach may watch college-bound student-athletes compete, visit their high schools, and write or telephone student-athletes or their parents." After April 25 is a "quiet period" during which "a coach may not watch student-athletes compete (unless a competition occurs on the college’s campus) or visit their high schools." (quoted stuff from www.ncaa.org/student-athletes/resources/recruiting-calendars). Sure would be nice to have a team in place before then, but it looks doubtful that we'll have a full team in place, and may not even have a head coach.

I'd hate to see us deal with another recruiting roadblock, as we did when we were two coaches down for the class of 2013. That kind of problem has long impact. It's not just finding new guys for 2016, it's holding on to the ones who have signed/committed and connecting with the 2017 recruits.

My sources advise that a presser will be held as soon as Thursday to announce BA as head coach. JJ will remain as assistant. A former member of coaching staff will return as Director of Basketball Operations.
Stay tuned.

With so many rumors and so called "insiders" playing I got a secret/I'm privy to info that no one else has, I don't know what to believe anymore. You have a thread about JJ leaving, parents posting criticism of the former head coach/giving opinions on who should be hired (with the underlying implication that the wrong choice could lead to transfers) - I just want this whole situation settled. If your post is true, it would be fine with me. Let the players that want to leave - go and let's start building up something for next year and beyond

How about an announcement at the Forever A Titan event today with the formal introductory press conference tomorrow? That would provide all of us with a reasonably stress free weekend. Announce assistant coaches as well. I am hopeful.

Today is my birthday. The announcement of a home run hire for the Titan head coach would be a nice present.
