I agree that today's athletes appear to be a little more fragile in a lot of instances, but punching or choking anyone is unacceptable in any era. Seems like there is a lot of corroboration on the allegations about Marshall.
I don't mind a guy like Izzo, who can get pretty loud with his screaming. I had a few coaches like that myself. Fortunately, I never had a coach put his hands on me they way Marshall is said to have done.

I know things are a lot different today with our pampered offspring. Pitchers no longer go much over 100 pitches, football has banned head slaps and if you go near one of the fragile QB's its roughing and basketball players only want to play offense and the sad part of it all is that this has become acceptable and the norm.

Early returns in the AAC have Houston looking like the class of the league. After beating Texas Tech by double figures earlier in the season, last night they beat SEC team South Carolina 77-67. Per Jon Rothstein on Twitter:
"Houston just beat South Carolina by 10 without the following personnel: Head Coach (Kelvin Sampson) Associate HC (Kellen Sampson) AAC Preseason POY (Caleb Mills) Leading scorer and starting PG (Marcus Sasser) One of the best "culture" wins I've seen in 15 years on this beat."

Mixed bag of results the AAC teams this year.
Houston is all the way up #6 in the rankings. SMU is 5-0, against a soft schedule, but they do have a win over Dayton. Central Florida got worked by Michigan, but beat Auburn and Florida State. Tulane is 5-1, with all their victories against mid major competition; they have some high major transfers who are starting to round into shape.
Cincinnati is 2-4, but challenged themselves with games against Tennessee, Georgia, and Xavier. Tulsa has 10 new players on the roster and sits at 3-3. They dropped games to TCU and South Carolina early. Hard to tell who good Wichita State will be this season without Gregg Marshall. They are 3-2, but both of their losses came against good high major teams, Mizzou and Oklahoma State.
The Memphis administration wins the "bad timing" award after awarding Coach Penny Hardaway a five year contract extension yesterday afternoon and then watching Memphis lose at home to Tulsa last night, 56-49. The Tigers had 20 turnovers and only 17 made field goals for the game. Memphis is a disappointing 5-4. The didn't make the NCAA tourney in Penny's first year, 2019, and wouldn't have made it last year unless the conference tournament had been played and they ran the table. The Tigers finished in the middle of the AAC pack both of those seasons, and don't look good this year. They are also facing likely NCAA discipline after it was discovered that Hardaway had given over $10,000 to the family of his top recruit in the class of 2019. All of that made the announcement of a five year extension somewhat surprising.

Wouldn't be surprised if you got quite a few takers.

Wouldn't be surprised if you got quite a few takers. It would be interesting to see the results. Penny Hardaway is a Memphis legend, and benefits from near total devotion from most of the fan base. He still has a lot of support. And more than anything else, Memphis fans love winning signing day. Seriously, they would celebrate recruiting wins more than actual on the court wins. Part of the "let's stick with Penny" justification now is because the Tigers have a verbal commitment from a five star recruit in the class of 2022.

Rough day for Memphis yesterday. The Tigers lost to Tulsa in a game they led early, and shortly after their sole recruit for 2022, Arterio Morris, de-committed. Penny Hardaway probably feeling pretty glad he signed that five year extension last month.

Houston meets SMU today in a good AAC contest. SMU scored first, taking a 2-0 lead. That is significant because it is the first time Houston has trailed since January 9. Of course, there were some postponements in that stretch, but it covers 189 minutes of game time.
