I thought Barcari did a great job at the press conference. I liked the fact that he recognized the history of U of D, particularly the classy move of paying respect to Coach Ray. That impressed me. I saw Tubby Smith do the same thing at his first press conference at Memphis, as he complimented former Tiger coach Pastner.
Bacari is definitely active on social media. Lots of re-tweets, lots of original comment.
He wasn't my first choice, but I am excited to see what he does and I will look forward to continuing to support the program. Go Titans.

I like the sentiment, but do we have to really wait a few years? It's not like the program he's taking over is in bad shape. (At least he said "University of Detroit".)

Not much revealed, but in fairness, one shouldn't expect much. A coach just isn't going to use this format to say things like "we're trying to push Jalen Gibson out the door to open up another scholarship" or to break NCAA rules and talk about specific recruits.
A few things I thought were interesting though:
- he just gave the same stock answer when asked about Bass. Nothing like "he's a key part of our program" or "we expect a big year" or anything. Just the rote "We're evaluating all of the student athletes on our roster currently, first academically, then athletically as we get into our summer training regiment. We can harness the talent of all our players when we establish our culture first." - he didn't sound too committed to Isaiah Jones, the verbal juco from Sacramento, rumored to be primarily a JJ recruit. - JJ is "on board" "as of right now." Hmmm. I've asked on the other board and gotten no response. Anyone know about the JJ/Bacari relationship during their playing days or since? - looking at graduate transfers.
Let's look at that last... a few grad transfers available who might realistically think Detroit: - Canyon Barry, College of Charleston, 6-6 F/G. In addition to having a cool name, averaged 19.7 ppg last year. But missed much of season with arm injury. - Anthony Livingston, 6-8 F from Arkansas State -- averaged 15.5 ppg, 9.4 rpg, after averaging 15.9 and 10.0 in 2015. - Spike Albrecht? Bacari probably knows him personally, eh? - Valentine Izundu, 6-10 C, Washington State. He's been a bench warmer at Houston and Washington State (averaged just under 15 mpg last year). But he's big, and averaged 2.2 blocks last year in those 15 minutes per game. - Andre Washington, 7-0 C from Wake Forest. Even more of a bench warmer. Even bigger. - Jodan Price, 6-8 F, Eastern Michigan. - DouDou Gueye, 6-10 C, South Carolina State. If you can't do better than 0.8 points and 1.6 rebounds per in the MEAC, not sure what you can do in the Horizon. But he's big. - Justus Stanback 6-9 F, IUPUI. Has two years eligiblity left.
Well, that's probably enough idle speculation.

Bacari was pretty specific at Monday's Titan Club event that Jackson would be on his staff. Said he wanted to announce the entire staff together once finalized. Perhaps JJ is looking at other options which explains why Bacari is hesitant to make a more definitive statement at this time, but all the vibrations I pick up suggest they have a good relationship.
