I saw where the SEC has adopted a new rule, that a team cannot schedule an out of conference game against a school that has a three year arverage rpi below #175. A while back there was a big discussion on the Valpo board about whether the Horizon should adopt a rule like the Atlantic 10 used to have, which was pretty complex but you got points for playing teams from different conferences or with different RPIs, and lost some tournament revenue if your schedule score fell too low.
I wonder if that would help the Horizon. Or maybe just make it even harder to schedule, especially games at home.

This rule prevents the Titans from playing an SEC team this year -- our 3 year average RPI is 213. We'll have to finish at #119 or better this year to be able to play an SEC team next year. I also wonder if the rule applies to the various exempt tournaments, since I presume the schools don't always have control over those.

I would be all for the Horizon League adopting a similar rule but the number might have to be around 250. I am sick of seeing Chicago State on too many of the schedules in this league(going to be 4 years in a row for the phoenix). They are 300+ every year. Schedule 2 for 1 with Valley schools(swallow some pride)
