This says the MAAC, which recently cut its conference schedule from 20 to 18 games, is looking for a "conference challenge." Outside of the big conferences, I'm not sure how well these things really work, that they do much for a conference, except they can make scheduling a little easier. It's often suggested that the Horizon should look for a challenge. People talk about the MVC, but that's not likely. Others talk about the MAC, but typically there are already about 20 games a year between MAC and Horizon teams--I'm not sure there's much to be gained there. Barring an unlikely challenge with the MVC or A10, I've kinda liked the idea of the CAA, which it says in this article the MAAC hoping for. CUSA could be another, I suppose, but tougher to get.
Here's what you'd have if you had challenges with the Horizon and other conferences, simply matching up the prior year's #1s, #2s, etc.
Vs. MAAC
Valparaiso vs. Monmouth
Oakland v. Iona
Wright State v. Siena
Green Bay v. Fairfield
Milwaukee v. St. Peter's
Detroit v. Manhattan
Youngstown v. Canisius
Northern Kentucky v. Rider
Cleveland St. v. Quinnipiac
UIC v. Niagara
vs. CAA
Valparaiso v. UNC-Wilmington
Oakland v. Hofstra
Wright State v. James Madison
Green Bay v. Wm & Mary
Milwaukee v. Towson
Detroit v. Northeastern
Youngstown v. Charleston
Northern Kentucky v. Elon
Cleveland St. v. Drexel
UIC v. Delaware
vs. CUSA
Valparaiso v. UAB
Oakland v. Middle Tennessee
Wright State v. Louisiana Tech
Green Bay v. Old Dominion
Milwaukee v. Marshall
Detroit v. UTEP
Youngstown v. Charlotte
Northern Kentucky v. Western Kentucky
Cleveland St. v. Florida Int'l
UIC v. North Texas
and for good measure, that MVC dream:
Valparaiso vs. Wichita State
Oakland v. Evansville
Wright State v. Illinois State
Green Bay v. Northern Iowa
Milwaukee v. Southern Illinois
Detroit v. Indiana State
Youngstown v. Missouri State
Northern Kentucky v. Loyola
Cleveland St. v. Bradley
UIC v. Drake
