The Titans travel north on Friday the 13th to take on our main rival, the Oakland Golden Grizzlies. Over the past three years, the Grizz have been on a peak while the Titans have been on one of the program's valleys, and this year is no different. Oakland is 14-3 while the Titans are 2-14. They say you can throw the records out the window in a rivalry game. Hopefully, that is the case this year. If not, this will be another long game for the Titans. Oakland's site has this preview. www.goldengrizzlies.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/011117aaf.htmlYou can find the thoughts of Moose and Commish on the game in this thread. detroittitanhoops.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3161

I'm about the only one, but I thought this was pretty funny, so I'm going to repost it here from my game preview at DetroitTitans.com: For this preview, we've found some special footage of the Oakland ballplayers relaxing between practice sessions: . PS. The clip comes from the film "Unchained." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unchained_(film) I know a lot of people who have never understood the song's title, not being aware of its origins.

Actually, I thought that was pretty funny, Commish. :-) It's also one of my favorite songs.

Commish, I liked your account of the last few games of the series, pointing out that most of the games have been super close. Hopefully, good fortune and big plays start going the Titans way.

The Titans go for the regular season sweep of the Golden Grizzlies on Friday, February 10 at Calihan Hall. The Titans most memorable game of the year so far was their road win against the Grizzlies in January, but the season has been an inconsistent one for both teams. It's a special night at Calihan, as the 1976-77 team will be honored and the jersey of Titan great Terry Duerod will be retired. On a night when the Titans celebrated their 1977 Sweet Sixteen team and retired the jersey of University of Detroit great Terry Duerod, Oakland spoiled the party with an 89-80 win that wasn't as close as the final score would indicate. The Grizzlies took a 19 point lead at halftime and pretty much cruised the rest of the way until the Titans made a meaningless late flurry to close the gap. The Titans problems on defense continued, as the Grizzlies scored multiple times on coast to coast drives to the basket, and easy dunks and layoffs from the half court offense. OU shot 54% from the floor. ESPN has this recap. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/recap?gameId=400918512
