Hard to figure what kind of legal justification Valpo thinks they have for not paying the fee, especially if what the League says is true.

The MVC's motion to transfer venue has been granted. This has nothing to do with the merits, but the case will now be heard in Porter County, where Valpo is located.

Legal Update:
The case was finally transferred to Porter County, where the courthouse is located in the county seat, which happens to be Valparaiso. It was assigned to Superior Court judge Roger Bradford, a Valpo Law School alum and previously an adjunct professor at the school. (The school did not accept new students for the fall of 2018. It is widely thought the school will close, but in late June it signed a non-binding letter of intent to affiliate with Middle Tennessee State Univ.--basically, transferring over its accreditation to the Tennessee university. We'll see what comes--talk about branding issues!).
Anyway, on the lawsuit, the Horizon moved to dismiss Valpo's counter claims (include breach of contract, fraudulent inducement, negligent misrepresentation and unjust enrichment), and a hearing was held on that motion for July 12. On August 2 Judge Bradford granted the motion to dismiss all of Valparaiso's counterclaims except for breach of contract.
The legal process slogs on.

It's easy to see what the problem is here: too many lawyers.
