IMHO, Sam, this will be a gut check test for our Titans. The only positive I could unearth from yesterday's burial was the emergence of Cory Allen to last year's form. But defense and rebounding were so abysmal and team play became worse as the game went on. I listened to game on 910 for awhile while following on Gamestats and watching Yale-Harvard and Syracuse-Louisville on TV. I have become a follower of Ivy League sports as my daughter is being actively recruited by Yale and Brown for gymnastics.
Well, I will be on the Gamestats today to root on the boys. BTW, I plan on attending the Oakland game at Calihan this year. Hope to meet you and others at that time. Larrytitan

Larrytitan Yeah, Corey's game and an improved performance from McFolley were the only plusses from the game. Houston Baptist is not a good team. This is kind of a must win, to the extent you can use that phrase in an early season non-conference match up. Great news about your daughter. I know you must be proud. I hope to be at the Oakland game, but my work schedules have been crazy. I'll try to have the day off so I can be at Calihan.

Juggling two jobs, the second of which has turned into a full time job itself. Not complaining, because it's been a good opportunity, but it does cut into my normal basketball related activities. :-)

The Titans averted disaster on Sunday with a late comeback against HBU. Trailing by two possessions late in regulation, Detroit took advantage of key free throw misses by HBU and two three pointers by JJ Jr to put the game into overtime. Playing like a team that had blown a chance to win in regulation, the Huskies went out without much of a whimper in OT. Our Titans won by a 116-109 final in a game that featured less defense than a Rocky Balboa fight. JJ Jr. got the late game heroics, but it was Corey Allen's career high 39 points that led the way for Detroit. Breaking out of his early season struggles in Nashville, Allen hit 12 for 20 from the floor. Jackson had another poor shooting game, but his big shots in the last minute of regulation made the win possible. Kam Chatman scored 22 for the good guys. You take a win any way you can get it, but my enthusiasm is tempered by the fact that the Titans really struggled with what is expected to be a really bad Houston Baptist club, and only managed to win because HBU started playing like a last place team in the final regulation minute. On the plus side, it was good to hear Cliff Russell's enthusiasm as the Titans snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. detroittitans.com/news/2017/11/19/mens-basketball-allens-career-high-39-points-fuels-titan-comeback-over-houston-baptist.aspx
