Welcome, Dre Black. Good job by HSScout1, who was right on top of this, apparently as soon as the offer was made. Good find.
Dre black @dreblack01 6h6 hours ago Excited to say I will be spending my next two years at the University of Detroit mercy.

Jacob Joubert says he's coming to UD. He's the son of former Michigan great Antoine Joubert. A 6-3 guard, was Honorable Mention All State at Detroit News. Did not gain any other all-state recognition. He was running mate to Billy Thomas at North Farmington. It doesn't appear he's been recruited much, and can't find anything re any D-I offer.
As more than a walk on one can't get too excited.

Verbal Commits reports that the Titans have offered Cole Long, a 6-7, 205 lb. F from Athletic Institute in Canada. They report just one other offer, from UMBC. Averaged 16 points per game. Athletic Institute is a apparently a relatively new institution, formed to provide training and experience for elite level Canadian players without leaving Canada -- at least per its website.
This is the school's 4th year of operation. Last year's class had their first grads to go on to D-I programs - 6 in total, including Jamal Murray to Kentucky.

Just a feeling, but it wouldn't surprise me if Cole Long ends up committing soon after his visit. I'm guessing we are in on him based on JJ's connections in Canada from his days with the Raptors, so I guess we'll see soon how this pans out and how the level of play translates. Long apparently played in some high profile events vs top American programs and fared well (for example 32 points vs Orangeville Prep in Feb), so I guess if he can compete athletically and adjust culturally, he could develop into a player who can help us down the road.

Welcome, Cole. I hope you enjoy your Titan experience, on the court and in the classroom. (I keep wanting to call him Cole Younger.)

Coach BA mentioned during the round ball luncheon that the Titans were interested in a 7 foot kid out of Germany. I saw this tweet this evening. Verbal Commits @verbalcommits 1h1 hour ago 2016 MacDuffie (MA) C Malik Eichler has received an offer from Detroit. (HT @macduffiehoops) @malikeichler verbalcommits.com/players/malik-eichler …

Seven footer Malik Eichler, from Germany through McDuffie Academy in Massachusetts, has committed to the Titans. I wouldn't expect him to see a lot of PT as a freshman, but I think it's a good pick-up, especially given Bacari's late start on recruiting. Mid-majors rarely get a developed big man--you've got to take some projects and some chances. The little film I've seen of Eichler suggests a guy with decent hands and footwork, two common problems for bigs, and who looks like he can get up and down the court, another common issue. If that's all true, he could develop into a very nice player. FWIW, his social media suggest he's a real nice, thoughtful young man, too.

I'll take a chance on a big man with some athletic ability any day. The big men are like lottery tickets. Even if some don't pan out, you still have to take a chance hoping to hit on a few of them. Long and Eichler are these type of players in my mind. I also like how it brings balance to our scholarships/classes - 3 each for Seniors, Juniors, Sophomores and Freshmen. Our Freshman and Sophomore classes are heavier on frontcourt players (4 of 6 scholarships) who tend to take more time to develop at the mid major level and the two guards (McFolley/Allen) are extremely high impact type players. If Chatman transfers in, as a redshirt Jr, he would also fit into the Sophomore (and frontcourt) group as far as graduation year. This leaves us with a few openings for impact type guards in the class of 2017

Added Omari Spellman today, per a report at Rivals. Omari was a Titan recruit early on, but soon reached high major status and ended up with Villanova. Looks like he is having some trouble gaining his eligibility. As we have stated before, academic uncertainties can happen anywhere, even with the defending champions, who can certainly afford to be selective in their recruiting. www.sny.tv/college-recruiting/news/villanovas-spellman-not-eligible-for-spain-trip/193079486
