Very different with all the players leaving. Nice to see Ty Groce from my high school with a top ten ranking. Railsplitter pride!

In this article from January, Billy Thomas of UD Jesuit says that the Titans have shown interest in him. Excerpt: DETROIT — University of Detroit Jesuit has one of the more talented sophomore guards in the state of Michigan. Of course, Cassius Winston would be the first name that comes to mind. He holds offers from Michigan State and Iowa State as one of the nation’s top prospects for the 2016 class. However, it’s U-D Jesuit’s other sophomore guard, Billy Thomas, who has made a name for himself, too. “Billy can score in bunches,” said his Cubs head coach Pat Donnelly. “He can hit threes, he can attack off the dribble, he’s quick and I’m sure glad he’s here.” Averaging 17 points per game, Thomas feels the same exact way about coach Donnelly and U-D Jesuit. The Cubs are 9-1 and appear to be the favorites to win another Catholic League basketball title. Oakland, Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Iowa State and Detroit have shown early interest in the sharp-shooting sophomore. “Schools want me to just focus on my grades and to get in the weight room,” Thomas said. “I have to work on my defense primarily, finishing around the basket and my court vision needs to get better.” Thomas isn’t lacking in the confidence department either. “I guarantee I will be in the top five in Michigan two years from now,” he said. “I have played against all the best players and honesty they can’t matchup. My age makes me go harder and put a chip on my shoulder, but I love to compete.” Former U of D Cub Billy Thomas, now at Genesis, picked up an offer from Louisiana Tech, per twitter. He has also reclassified to 2017. I would imagine he's still getting interest from the Titans. etweeted by Billy Thomas Verbal Commits @verbalcommits · 2h 2017 Genesis Academy (VA) G Billy Thomas has received an offer from Louisiana Tech. ESPN released their updated 2016 top 60 rankings. Players with Michigan ties include: 2. Josh Jackson 7. Miles Bridges 46. Cassius Winston If you would have told me when I was coming up that there would one day be a class of the top 60 players and none would be from the Detroit PSL, I would have said you were crazy. espn.go.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/playerrankings/_/class/2016

Steve Schwanda tweets on Al Eichelberger: "San Jose State was n gym yesterday for @godsplayer2 & Oregon State will b today. Harvard also invited him to midnight madness per his dad."
You can feel him slipping away.

Steve Schwanda tweets on Al Eichelberger: "San Jose State was n gym yesterday for @godsplayer2 & Oregon State will b today. Harvard also invited him to midnight madness per his dad." You can feel him slipping away. Don't say that too loud. You'll be ripped for being a defeatist and not being a Titan fan. Do we know who else is on the roster at Prolific Prep? Is Schwanda sure those teams are going to see Al? In any case, it does feel like our chances of landing Al are diminishing. With the move to California along with some of the other things I've been hearing, it seems like Al and his family are thinking beyond good old U of D. Hopefully, we stay in the running or get that hard "no" in time to focus on others.

Danny Pippen (offered) and Jason Williams (interest) both visited Central Michigan this week-end. Pippin has an offer there.

Here's a highlight video for Al E. I don't think this has been posted here before. He looks good here, showing agility, good hands, and a better physical appearance than when I saw him last December.

Here's a profile on Dylan Carl. Of course, Michigan and Michigan State are the schools he'd like to play for. At the time of this article he was getting interest from U of D, CMU, and a bunch of D2 schools. For stats guys like me and Commish, he averaged a double double and blocked three shots per game. He said he will be considering distance from home and the size of the college when making his choice. He claims a 3.35 GPA. There is a link to his "highlight" video. He's tall and lanky, but obviously has time to grow and get stronger. theprepballreport.com/2014/08/05/alma-2016-forwardcenter-dylan-carl-player-profile/

22. Billy Thomas, 6-0 G, West Bloomfield (Genesis Academy, Lynchburg, VA). Detroit, Eastern Michigan, Iowa State, *IUPUI, Michigan, Oakland.
According to Twitter, Thomas visited campus and attended practice today and enjoyed himself. He also was recently offered by the staff. However I've also seen him listed as part of the class of 2017.

Good news. I think Thomas is a good player and I had expected an offer to be coming sooner or later. Looks like we are still in the mix, despite his decision to transfer to prep school. Yes, I'm pretty sure Billy is in the class of 2017 now. This article is a few months old, but it says that. In it, he also gives some reasons behind his decision to transfer. He says that exposure will be off the charts for him, but his former teammate at UD Jesuit, Cassius Winston, has proved that you can get plenty of exposure there. www.statechampsnetwork.com/news-blog/high-school-sports-news/boys-basketball-billy-thomas-to-transfer-out-of-uofd-jesuit-and-reclassify-to-the-2017-class/

With the 2015 class basically done for now, thoughts get more serious about 2016. Who's on our wish list for 2016?
Al Eichelberger remains the guy I'd most like to have, for many reasons. Not sure where we are with him since he headed out west for prep school, and I wish he would have been around for the Titan Tip off.
The more I hear about Justin Turner, the more I like him. He's got a solid list of mid major offers and a three star rating on Rivals. It would be nice to snag a player who is basically in our neighborhood.
Purely for personal reasons, Ty Groce is one of my favorite prospects. He showed promise as a sophomore and showed enough this summer to get an offer from Detroit. I'd like to see a player from my high school end up a Titan.
Corey Allen, looked like a definite D1 guard when I saw him play live last year. Barcari Alexander was on hand to see him. His Ypsilanti squad played Lincoln in that game. Allen was the best player on the floor, which is saying something since Ty Groce, current Louisville freshman Jaylen Johnson, Youngstown State commit Devin Haygood, and Janeau Jourbert all played in that game.
I'll scout Corey, Justin, and Ty this season in person. I'll just have to rely on my Saginaw contacts to get word on how Al is doing.
It's good for the program to be able to focus on 2016 at this point. It feels like we're ahead of the curve instead of trying to catch up. If all three of our 2015 commits sign in November, it allows us to sharpen our focus on positions of need for 2016. It's a good place for the program to be.
