Probably a good decision. Outstanding NAIA program. He should get regular PT, he'll get his college paid for, probably win a lot and have a lot of fun. He'll be away from home but not so far his family can't come see him play.

Informal Word is that Titans have signed PG Patrick Robinson, from Brampton, Ontario via Dakota CC in North Dakota. He averaged 11 points and 2 assists last year, shooting 38% from three. I can't find anything showing him recruited elsewhere. It's a last minute signing to replace the non-qualifier BJ Jenkins. I don't expect much but we'll see. I'm a bit concerned that the staff seems to have so little confidence in Williams, Grant, Brundidge, and McFolley at the point.

I'll hold off giving it too much thought until it's confirmed officially. As you know, I share your concern about the point guard spot. Detroit has been chasing point guards the entire recruiting period, clearing showing the staff is not comfortable with the returnees. I like the potential of McFolley, but I'm not expecting him to play like Ray McCallum did as a freshman (or anywhere near that level). Williams needs to be the Jarod of the last ten games of last season, where he penetrated, hit the open shot and moved the ball. He finally looked healthy during that stretch, and maybe that's the key.

Early 2015 Titan target Khari Willis is getting a lot of time at defensive back for the Michigan State football team this season, in part due to injuries at the position. He's playing well. Made a couple of plays in the big MSU win over the Wolverines last week.

Lacey James, a former Titan commit in the class of 2015, signed with Rider and is having a tough start to the season. James has played a total of five minutes in Rider's first four games, and has yet to score. Considering the buzz he was getting during his senior year, his destination and lack of production is surprising. Rider is 0-4.
Mike Edwards saw action in both Georgia games so far. He clocked only seven minutes in an OT win loss to Chattanooga, scoring 3 points. He played 26 minutes in a win over Murray State, scoring only two points but getting eight rebounds and a block.
Nick Perkins is getting 18 minutes per game for Buffalo, scoring six points and grabbing four boards per contest.
Marquel Ingram is playing 15 minutes per game for Bethune Cookman, getting four points per game. He's only shooting 21% from the floor, but he's 7-8 from the free throw line on the season.

Among other guys we offered, the one who's kicking butt is Jaire Grayer at George Mason, averaging over 30 minutes a game, 14.4 points, shooting 54% from the floor and 41% from three. For Eastern Michigan, LaMonta Stone played cameo minutes against Oakland and MSU, and 11 minutes against their non-DI opponent. He's averaging 2.3 ppg overall. Walter Wright has been starting at Montana, averaging 9.3 points and 2 assists. He is shooting just 30%, including 1-15 from three points. At Rice, Connor Cashaw is averaging 25 minutes and 5 ppg. AJ Turner is averaging 6.7 points and 3.7 rebounds for Boston College in 24 mpg. And Juco transfer Quavius Copeland is averaging 10 points and 5 assists for Middle Tennessee State.

Must be Grayer's prep school experience that has him playing so well. (Sarcasm.) Actually, I am glad to see him succeeding.
Those are good numbers for AJ as a freshman.

Hearing that Trevor Manuel is transferring from Oregon. He had appeared in nine games for the Ducks, with limited minutes. Oregon seemed like a good fit for him, but maybe something was going on behind the scenes.
I would hope that the Titans are reaching out to him as a potential transfer candidate.
From the Twittersphere:

Wasn't getting much burn for the Ducks I'd definitely go for Manuel unless there is some discipline issue or something (and there's no sign that that is the case). My guess is he'll go to another high major, maybe lower in the pecking order, like a Seton Hall or an A10 school, something like that, but a 6-9, 4 star forward who's good enough to get a few minutes a game at Oregon as a freshman, with three years eligibility remaining? I'm interested, for sure.

That was quick - Manuel has signed with Loyola Marymount.
I'm guessing he wanted to be enrolled before they start spring term (probably Monday) so he can play next year after fall semester. You kinda wonder if, being on the West Coast, he thought it would be all sunny and warm in Oregon, and needed a geography lesson.
Of course, I don't know any of the situation, or the people, but strictly from an objective basketball standpoint, it seems to me a kid like that might do better to finish the year at Oregon, transfer and sit a year, and then have three years of eligibility (including the now common 5th year transfer possibility if he graduates in 4). With the mid-season transfer he essentially loses half of this season and about 30-40% of next season, shortening his college career to about 3 years of actual playing eligibility; the transfer decision is made in a hurry; and I still think the mid-season transfer (that is to say, joining a team in mid-season after a year not playing) is tough to do and hurts performance (it I had the time I think that would make an interesting study). But he must have other calculations.

But he must have other calculations. It always seems to me that a player looking to transfer is better off finishing out the year rather than transferring mid year, especially a freshman. Stick out the year (maybe things get better), stay on track academically, take your time and find the right spot. In any case, LMU seems like a curious spot for Manuel.

James hasn't played in the last six games for Rider. He's only played 12 games on the year, averaging one point per game. Not at all what I expected.
