I wondered where he was going to end up. Surprising that he would go "up" after struggling in the MAAC, and I'm kind of surprised that Northern Illinois would be interested. Perhaps his health issues were holding him back last year and there are indications that those are in the past for him now. I hope it all works out for him. NIU's twitter account posted a pick of Lacey James in his uniform with the caption "Happy Birthday @laceyjames10! We can't wait to finally have you on the floor this year!" I hope his health concerns are in the past and that he has a solid career. Remember Lacey James, the one time Titan commit, who if I remember correctly, had his basketball scholarship pulled when career threatening heart problems were discovered, scored a team-high 17 points last night as NIU cruised to victory in its season opener.

Looks like LaMonta Stone is leaving EMU. I'm not sure if this tweet is correct, though, about the years he has left. If he gets a medical red shirts this year, he will still need to sit a year if he transfers to a D1 program, right? Reggie Rankin @reggierankin 36m36 minutes ago Confirmed LaMonta Stone II not returning to Eastern Michigan, getting Medical RS. Will be ready in the fall 4 yrs to play. I think you are right. And of course sitting will give him just 3 more years to use up his eligibility, unless he gets a waiver, which is no sure thing. I'm not sure what became of LaMonta Stone, Jr. who transferred from EMU after one season. His Dad's name popped up in an article recently as he returns to River Rouge to coach. www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/2018/10/18/lamonta-stone-returns-coach-river-rouge-boys-basketball-state-title-aspirations/1682211002/

That's great news for James. I remember most of us being very happy when he committed to the Titans, and disappointed when health problems stopped him from becoming a Titan. At the time, it appeared as if Detroit would be fine with frontcourt players in that class, as Aaron Foster-Smith and Jaleel Hogan signed with the Titans. Unfortunately, both of those careers were cut short by academic issues. You never know how things are going to work out.

I watched the first 10 minutes of the NIU vs. MSU game to check out Mr. James, i think he would have been a good player in the Horizon league, he ran the court well and boxed out decently against a bigger anx stronger Nick Ward. I checkes the biz score ans he finished with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Not bad at all.

Circled back to check the Olivet roster and it appears Manuel was never with the team this year. Haven't been able to find any information on where he is or what he is up to. He has been on a strange trip, going from Lansing Sexton to Oak Hill Academy to Lansing Everett to Oregon to Loyola Marymount to Olivet to who knows where? Wherever he is, I hope he is doing well. On a related note, Jalen Adams, a Saginaw native who originally signed with St. Bonaventure and was once a Titan recruit, played at Olivet this past season. He averaged 26 points per game and made third team D3 All America. The Lansing State Journal had an article about Trevor Manuel. It's a good read. Per this, Manuel had to sit out last season at Olivet because not enough of his classes transferred over. Looking back, there were some questionable decisions made during the course of Trevor's career, starting with his decision to leave the State for a prep school. His stock and profile fell after that move, but he salvaged his high school career returning to Lansing and playing well during his senior year. Then he really started moving around. Per Trevor and his Dad, he wants to be more of a Kevin Durant type than a traditional 6-10 player, which he points to as a reason for all of the movement during his career. I sometime contrast the careers of Manuel and Deyonta Davis. Davis was a somewhat late bloomer who stayed in state and ended up ranked a five star player and accepted an offer to Michigan State. He had one non-descript season with the Spartans and then declared for the draft. He will make $1.3 million with the Memphis Grizzlies in this upcoming season, his third NBA campaign. Manuel was thought to be the better player when they were younger, but seemed to plateau as a player and this upcoming season at Olivet will be his only full season of college ball. As an aside, both situations show how recruiting and signing a highly ranked player sometimes results in less bang for the buck than the college coach might expect. www.lansingstatejournal.com/story/sports/columnists/graham-couch/2018/07/08/trevor-manuel-oregon-loyola-olivet-couch-column/762075002/Checked the Olivet College website to see how Trevor Manuel is doing this year. He's having a fine year, averaging 19 points and 9 rebounds per game. Olivet is only 9-8 overall, but 5-1 in the MIAA.

Anybody know where Jeron Rogers was last season (2017/18)? He played one season at Cleveland State (15/16) and transferred to Oakland CC and played one season (16/17). Now I see he's looking for a team and wants to play closer to home (it appears he's currently in Texas - I wonder if he knows Davis and son?). At 6'7", he could fill a need for a season or two, he had mid to mid major+ level interest out of high school, plus we have plenty of scholarship still left to give... Jeron Rogers will play next season at Dillard, an HBCU in New Orleans. www.dillardbleudevils.com/roster/95/1/2046.phpRogers scored 41 points in a Dillard win over Rust College this past weekend.

Manuel declared for the draft. I hate to be critical, but outside of the middle Ball brother, I can't think off the top of my head of a player whose basketball career has been so mismanaged.
