Keep in mind that Anderson, Harge, Jefferson, Davis, plus 5'10" Brian Carey, who I believe has now transferred, and a number of other slightly taller guards were all set to be on TSU's roster before the coaching change.

Interesting, do you really think JJJr will return? Do I think it's likely? Probably not. But I won't dismiss it. He still has the Titans on his header of his twitter account. There has been no news of visits or offers or anything else. Where are he and his schooling buddy Jack going to find a University with 2 open scholarships and interest in both of them at this late time? Remember, a release to talk to other teams does not mean you're leaving, it means you are free to leave... I wonder how Jackson Jr will respond to competing for playing time? He was given the job last season.

Interesting, do you really think JJJr will return? Do either of you think there would be playing time for JJJ if Harge, Anderson or Jefferson were to show up as Titans? Defensively there probably isn't room for two small guards on the floor at once let alone 3. JJJ might be the reason we haven't signed Harge yet. Note first that we still have up to 5 scholarships to give, assuming Davis is not on scholarship and not counting JJJ and Ballantyne, and assuming Eichler doesn't transfer, as has been rumored, and Blackshear is physically able to play. You are quite right that three very small guards like Triple J, Harge, and Jefferson would be tough to carry. But not impossible. Right now the backcourt would appear to be Davis and McFolly, with grad transfer Jacob Holland and juco Tra'quon Knight as backups. I have little sense of how good either of the transfers are. Knight, Holland, and JoJo Anderson all have some size. Anderson and Jefferson, if they came over, would each be sitting this year. Holland and McFolley graduate at then end of this year. So if you literally signed all those guys--which I doubt-- you'd have: 2018-19 2019-20 McFolly Anderson Holland Jefferson Davis Davis Knight Knight Harge Harge JJJ JJJ My guess is that JJJ would be the #3 guard this year with plenty of minutes, but they wouldn't be trying to force-feed him into the starring role. Next year would be shakeout time with Anderson & Jefferson coming on, and Harge a soph. That said, it doesn't seem likely to me that Jefferson comes over, so right there the squeeze starts to alleviate, moreso if someone else doesn't. There's a lot going on that we just can't know. Take TxSo's 7-footer, Reed, who I think could help us for a year. But a) maybe he's not on track to graduate this year, his 4th in college--lots of guys take 5 years to graduate. So he may not be eligible as a grad transfer. Maybe he has zero desire to transfer. Maybe he's glad to be rid of Davis--I don't know. Who knows what the relationship is between Davis and Trae Jefferson? Harge's seeking his release sounds like a guy who might follow the coach who signed him, but maybe not. Maybe he just decided that Davis leaving gave him a reason to break his commit, or that he'd at least look elsewhere. But I've mentioned that the Titans were scouting him under Ray way back when he was a soph. Maybe he looked at UofD back then and said, "no way am I going up to the cold and snow of Michigan unless it's Michigan State or UM that wants me." Maybe we're waiting to see if Harge is admitted. It seems we're notoriously slow about some of this stuff. Lots of stuff in play.

Both good defenders, rebounders and not wasteful with the ball. Both have decent size and one can play the 3. I keep remembering our Milwaukee and Green Bay games last year where their guards absolutely killed us. Allen was 6'3" but really couldn't elevate. I can never remember him dunking a ball or even getting his hands close to the rim. He did position well but also had problems on D. If Reed does come it will solve a lot of problems.

This to me seems like a really bad decision. In my opinion Eichler was totally misused. I always thought it funny that Ballantyne was in there cranking up 3's, not playing D or rebounding but getting more minutes than Eichler, who if the plan was to have a big outside hoisting threes, was a better shooter. I was hoping Eichler might have a break out year getting away from BA and that Davis might be a good mentor of bigs. I remember when Eichler came and Hogan going on about how great Eichler was going to be. Maybe Davis can turn him or maybe Malik just does not want to work as hard as Davis requires. Either way I wish Malik well and feel bad about how he was utilized.

Seems like he has the tools to be a contributor on a good HL team. Good luck to him, wherever he goes.

So, this has apparently turned into the "roster" thread, but I wanted to chime in on the schedule.
Simply put, I really like this schedule as it is shaping up. It's Midwest heavy, and pits us against several programs we compete with for recruits. We test ourselves against higher conference schools like Cal and Temple, and go up against former conference mates that have passed us by, such as Dayton, Butler, and Xavier. Apparently, we've also declared war against the Buckeye State, which is a plus because that creates some nice road trip possibilities.
I am looking forward to the season. Go Titans.

My fault for going off topic. Sorry. However, isn't it great to have stimulating Titan talk during a dead period that seems to have lasted for months and months (although I believe it's only been just over a month since Davis was hired)

I'm only kidding. Like you said, it's great to have some relevant, factual Titan talk. Feels like it has been awhile.

All Div 1 opponents! When was the last time that occurred?

Six straight games against Ohio teams to close out the non-conference season.
I'm going to have to make an effort to hit most of those travel friendly road games. My availability to go to games during the conference season could be limited. That' Dayton/Toledo back to back looks like a good overnight trip.
