Do we know for sure the HL tourney will be at LCA?

Do we know for sure the HL tourney will be at LCA? No, but I listed it there anyway, pending something more. I thought about that as I was putting it together, though--interesting that there are no dates listed yet for the tournament, and there's been, to my knowledge, no announcement that they were staying at LCA. They might have felt it unnecessary given that they had an original 5 year contract, but there was a fair amount of press last year about a possible out so an announcement might have made sense. We'll see.

You know, we'll probably stink this year, but maybe not if Davis can get a couple more transfers with immediate eligibility and maybe find one good, unsigned freshman somewhere.
I mention this because Cal is a PAC 12 team that can be beaten, even on the road. They were 8-24 last year, including a loss to D-II Chaminade. Their top scorer, Don Coleman, transferred to South Alabama (interesting to drop down from the PAC 12 when he obviously can play in the PAC 12). Their #3 scorer and leading rebounder, Marcus Lee, graduated, as did Kingsley Okoroh, a 7-footer who wasn't much on offense but played 25 minutes per game, averaging over 2 blocks per game. He was also 2d on the team in rebounds. Overall, they return just 4 players who averaged 10 or more minutes, and one of them, Nick Hamilton, is a walk-on who averaged 1.9 ppg last year.
Now, having said that, they have a good freshman class, including a pair of 4-star players and a 3-star, 7-foot center. But we'll get them early in the year. A good Titan team could take real advantage here. Next year's team, however, I'm not so sure about.
Another guy leaving Cal, btw, is Austin McCullough of Portage (outside Kalamazoo), who played in 19 games last year as a freshman. He didn't do much, but he's a big (6-5) shooting guard, and seems like he might be a guy worth contacting about coming to UofD.

We'll see. One of the Lady Titans assistant coaches tweeted that she is looking forward to playing in the LCA for the HL tournament in March. Take that for what it is worth; she may know that the tourney will be back in Detroit or she might just be assuming.

Posted on the other Board by DetroitBASKETBALL - forget about rumors, when you have dates and some times, it seems like a leaked preliminary non conference schedule.
Actually the schedule isn't bad. The team is spending a lot of time in Michigan (obviously) and in Ohio

Too many road games...8 on the road..only 4 at home. The buyout games would be Xavier and Butler.

That leaves an opening for one more game. It's possible we choose not to schedule another game. It could be an NAIA team at home. But given Davis's philosophy, I'm guessing he'll try to squeeze in another guarantee game somewhere.

I see us going 4-8 against that schedule. If we could hit .500 that would be good. That would mean winning the 4 home games--doable, no teams in that bunch did better than .500 last year except 19-16 Hampton, who we may not even face-- and snatching two road wins. Akron and Ohio would be most likely. Toledo, EMU and WMU should all be pretty solid this year, and tough road games. Cal is a beatable P5 team, but on the Coast on the road is very tough. Xavier, Butler, and Temple look like Ls on the sheet, though I'd love to see otherwise.
Who knows, maybe this will be like 1973-74, when the club Dick Vitale inherited was expected to be pretty bad, but started out 10-1 with wins over Michigan and Michigan State. The only returnee on that team of any consequence was Owen Wells, who went from a good but unexceptional soph/jr to a really good senior. Josh McFolly... ready to step up?

Re the 1973-74 team comments by Commissioner, besides Owen Wells, Vitale brought along Walter Smith, Dennis Boyd and Wilbur Ross from NYC metro as freshmen.

I see some trips to OHIO in my Future.. Paging My friend Moose... It's a shame I'll be in New Jersey this year. Should be able to catch the Temple game in Philly, though.
