I can confirm we have spent a lot of time at Macomb CC and Henry Ford CC. I am friends with coaches at each school. I would be surprised it we don't see 1-2 local juco kids on the roster next year. I'm always happy to add some local kids from the JUCO ranks. I'd take Henry Ford's Carrington McCaskill. 6'8" 215# averaged 14.3 ppg 9.1 rpg last season. And he's a local kid, from Renaissance HS

On the class of 2019 thread, it says we offered McCaskill but he committed to FLA Atlantic. A circuitous path to end up at HF CC although a quick google search shows he was caught on security camera with an ugly skirmish with his then girlfriend. Second chances and all but...I don't know.

That's a good point. I had forgotten about that. Domestic violence situations are certainly troublesome. You wonder if it was a single instance of losing his temper, or part of a pattern. Davis has done well with some rehabilitation projects at his previous stops, so I'll trust his judgment on this.

It is worth noting that he originally signed with Florida Atlantic, but either wasn't ready, was hurt, or both -- he played 30 minutes in 5 games. But all those games were in November of 2019, so he probably got a redshirt year, and with last-year's waiver, would have 3 years eligibility left after this year. I'll add that if you think of those 30 minutes as 1 game, the numbers aren't bad at all -- 11 points on 4-4 from the floor (but 3-9 from the line--at least he gets to the line) with 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals, just 1 turnover. That's a pretty good one-game stat line. Here's a story on the incident: www.upressonline.com/2020/11/former-fau-mens-basketball-player-carrington-mccaskill-arrested-and-charged-with-battery-charges-have-since-been-dropped/. Charges were dropped, though with these cases its hard to know what occurred. Coach has given a lot of young men second chances--if he's comfortable and McCaskill wants to join UD, I'm on board.

I didn't realize his history when I made my post - I simply checked both JUCO team's rosters, last year's stats and the player's position/height. I'll defer to the Coaches on things like character issues, fit with the team, effort, etc

I'll admit I didn't know his story at all...I was googling him to look up his college stats to date and the criminal story was the dominant results.

No worries; it's not up to us to do the deep dive on a player. That's on the staff. :-)
In the absence of any inside knowledge about what occurred, I will welcome him on board if he and the Coach want to make it happen. Gotta figure Davis won't make that offer lightly, if he does (or has) make it.

I worked with Shep, the coach at HF, when I used to sub a Warren Cousino(he's the assistant principal),He would not be on the team at HFCC if Shep thought he had any issues.

I would imagine McCaskill is on the list but Mak Manciel is a mike davis type of big guard, Kalil Whitehead is also a guy to keep an eye on.

Whitehead played 2 yrs at Chicago State, starting 2 of their 9 games before they pulled the plug last year. Manciel is a true freshman, son of Mike Manciel who played at Central Michigan.

Whitehead's film that HFCC put on Twitter looks good. I know Mike Davis has been to MCC But my mcc coaching buddies would tell me who he was there to see as the off is not public Jiovanni Miles would make sense from MCC John Ukomadu is most likely who they are after 6'7 three-level guy.

I'm gonna assume this one is a complete joke - right? Now "Rutgers" has a branding issue
