Thanks, Scout. Looks like some good matchups, actually.

Again, per the reliability of anonymous posters on social media, it appears that Green Bay beat ND State on Saturday over the course of three 20-minutes "halves."
Remember, these are scrimmages--the word was that our guys routed Akron last year--but I guess I'd rather see HL teams winning than losing them.

How secret?
Per NCAA bylaws:
And...
Me sense this would be easy enforcement for the NCAA if they wanted to; if they don't, let's stop the pretense.

The secret scrimmages aren't all that old -- maybe 8 or 9 years? Back then it was serious tight lids on anything related to them, and if they even existed in the first place. This years seems to be a huge step towards having more information be disclosed about them, for whatever reason. Oh, and the next step the NCAA would have in these secret scrimmages would be to find a way to make money off them.

Last year, we had a "secret scrimmage" at Akron. Supposedly, we beat the Zips handily in that scrimmage. The Zips ended up 14-18. We ended up 8-24. I guess we peaked too soon.

Oakland got the job done, but was unimpressive in a 67-61 win over D-II Hillsdale at the McRena last night. OU led the final 37:55 of the game, but couldn't put the Chargers away, and Hillsdale was a two points three times in the final minutes and once in the final 60 seconds. The Grizz, who played all 5 starters for at least 20 minutes, turned it over 25 times. Xavier Hill-Maas had 17 points and 10 rebounds, and James Beck added 16 points. Babatunde Sowunmi, OU's sometimes heralded, 6-10 freshman, played 2 minutes.

Valparaiso beat UIC today in what was reportedly a very close closed scrimmage. No word on today's other scrimmages, Wright State v. Ohio, Milwaukee v. Northern Illinois, or Youngstown State v. Fort Wayne.

IUPUI beat D-II Central State on Monday, 86-52. The Jags didn't mess around, taking a 5-0 lead in the first 10 seconds and leading by 20 at the half. Camron Justice and Jaylen Minnett each had 19 points; Evan Hall had 10 points and 12 rebounds in 18 minutes; Manhattan transfer Ahmed Ismael had 18 points and 8 rebounds in 19 minutes. In short, they did what they were supposed to do.
So did Cleveland State. On Tuesday night the Vikings pummeled D-II Ohio Valley 102-55. Ohio Valley is a really bad D-II team--they were 3-23 last year. Stefan Kenic had 21 points and 9 rebounds for CSU; Al Eichelberger had 12 and 7 in 16 minutes.
Also on Tuesday, Northern Kentucky routed Thomas More College, 84-47. Erstwhile Titan Adrian Nelson had 10 points and 5 rebounds in 16 minutes, one of five Norse in double figures. Thomas More is a D-III school located in suburban Cincinnati.

Milwaukee struggled past Division III Concordia (Wisc.) tonight, 82-71. The Panthers trailed almost all of the first half and were down one at the break, but took the lead early in the second, extending it to as much as 16. Darius Roy, a juco guard, led Milwaukee with 22.
Wright State was more impressive, beating Notre Dame of Ohio 86-51. Notre Dame was within reach for a while--they trailed by 9 at the half--but the second half was all WSU. Transfer Billy Wampler led the Raiders with 18. Wright's only real question mark this year is depth, so it's worth noting that 10 players played at least 10 minutes, including three freshmen. Notre Dame is a D-II team.

Green Bay beat D-II Michigan Tech 94-74. Michigan Tech jumped out to a 20-8 lead in this one and held the advantage until Green Bay went on a 14-0 run ending midway through the second half. The teams traded baskets for a few minutes and then Green Bay went on another 20-1 run to finish off the Huskies. The Phoenix had an excuse for the long, slow start--Coach Darner played numerous combinations from the opening. 14 players for at least 5 minutes each during the games first 25 minutes, and 15 saw action in the game. Only point guard PJ Pipes played 20 minutes. Sandy Cohen led with 20 points in 16 minutes.
UIC, OTOH, grabbed the lead in the first minute against D-III Illinois Wesleyan, and never relinquished it. Wesleyan did, however, hang around until a 9-0 UIC spurt late in the first half put the Flames up 12. The final was 81-60. Jordan Blount had 17 points and 11 rebounds in 20 minutes.

greenbayphoenix.com/boxscore.aspx?id=3840&path=mbballThis box score is more accurate. The in game stats were not accurate but this is. Sandy had 28 and played 31 minutes. GB went deep into the bench but not anything that may be out of the norm for this team this year.
