This week UIC unveiled their new court design. I'm torn -- it's a bit much, but I do like what they tried to do particularly with tying in the Chicago city flag with the blue/white and red stars. --> www.si.com/college-basketball/2018/11/01/uic-flames-new-court-design A number of the courts they show on that article are pretty bad. The blue-top at Cal State Bakersfield certainly is the ugliest, and even out uglies the black top up the road in Pioneer-land

The blue-top at Cal State Bakersfield certainly is the ugliest, and even out uglies the black top up the road in Pioneer-land Try this link if the one above doesn't work: www.si.com/college-basketball/2018/11/01/uic-flames-new-court-designI dislike most of these courts intensely, not only because I don't find them aesthetically pleasing, but also because I think they would interfere with the game--I think it would be very discomforting for me to be playing on courts with these funky designs, and thus something of a further, and here unfair, home court advantage. The Bakersfield one I actually think is OK--it's just blue, but there's no funky design to screw up the on-court sense of spatial awareness--where am I on the court? The markings are traditional, other than the color, and not blurred or obscured by trees, beaches, flames, etc.
