With all the HL non-conference schedules finally published, here's a little table ranking the schedules based on last year's NET. I don't count non-D1 teams in the calculation of opponents' average NET. Of course, teams may be better or worse than last year, so this is just a ball park. When teams have undetermined opponents in bracketed tournaments, I've assumed they'll play the higher ranked team. That applies to MIlwaukee, IUPUI, UIC and Wright State--so all of them could be lower. The I've listed Quadrant 1, 2, 3, and 4 games for each team, based on last year's NET. The key for that is at the bottom. I've also listed the number of home, road, and neutral games for each school. School | Avg. Opp. NET | Q1 | Q2 | Q3 | Q4 | Non-D1 | Detroit 4H, 7R, 2N | 134.4 | 3 | 4 | 3 | 3 | 0 | Oakland 4H, 6R, 3N | 141.0 | 4 | 1 | 3 | 4 | 1 | Cleveland State 5H, 6R, 2N | 150.6 | 1 | 4 | 3 | 4 | 1 | Green Bay 5H, 8R | 151.0 | 3 | 1 | 3 | 4 | 2 | Northern Kentucky 6H, 6R | 164.7 | 3 | 1 | 2 | 4 | 2 | IUPUI 4H, 8R, 1N | 165.4 | 1 | 4 | 2 | 4 | 2 | UIC 7H, 5R, 1N | 166.0 | 1 | 3 | 3 | 5 | 1 | Milwaukee 6H, 3R, 3N | 175.4 | 2 | 2 | 0 | 6 | 2 | Wright State 7H, 3R, 3N | 182.4 | 2 | 1 | 4 | 4 | 2 | Youngstown State 7H, 6R | 217.9 | 1 | 2 | 2 | 6 | 2 |
Here is how the NCAA determines "quadrant" opponents Quadrant 1Home vs. 1-30 Neutral vs. 1-50 Road vs. 1-75 Quadrant 2Home vs. 31-75 Neutral vs. 51-100 Road vs. 76-135 Quadrant 3Home vs. 76-160 Neutral vs. 101-200 Road vs. 136-240 Quadrant 4Home vs. 161-353 Neutral vs. 201-353 Road vs. 241-353

Ten Best Non-Conference Home Games
1. Michigan State @ Oakland. Played at the Palace, but for scheduling it counts as a home game for OSU. 2. West Virginia @ Youngstown State. Also off-campus, but in this case at the Covelli Center, just a mile away. Credit Bob Huggins for giving his protege, YSU coach Jerrod Calhoun, the game. 3. DePaul @ Cleveland State. The only P6 team that will appear on an Horizon team's regular home court this year. 4. EMU @ Detroit. A local rivalry w/ MAC squad. Pretty sad that this is #4. With EMU expecting a down year, it perhaps should be lower, but it's about the only non-conference, metro area rivalry being played in a Horizon gym this year. 5. Western Kentucky @ Wright State. One of the better CUSA teams visits the Raiders.
6. Indiana State @ Wright State. An MVC team pays a visit. Expected to be a down year for the Sycamores, though. 7. Cal-Irvine @ UIC. UCI v. UIC--gotta love it. UCI is coming off 30-win season and is again a favorite in Big West. 8. Illinois State @ Northern Kentucky. Like Indiana State, Illinois State is an MVC team looking at a down season. 9. Toledo @ Detroit. MAC favorite, longtime and local rival Toledo visits Calihan. 10. Evansville @ IUPUI. I give this game a slight nod over Evansville @ Green Bay, because you've got the in-state thing going. Evansville is yet another MVC team projected for a down season. But we're happy to have the play at their old league, even if they were gone before these two schools arrived.

It's going to be bananas next season when Kentucky comes to play at Calihan to kick off the home-home series with them!! I read an article the other day that said Calipari was going to be in attendance at a good amount of Titan games this season, home and away, when Kentucky's schedule didn't conflict. Let him know we want to play them at Calihan next season!

Wish we would have gotten that consideration from Beilein for BA.

I'm just thinking that EMU is an in-state rival, a little bit closer. You could make a pretty good argument to swap those two, couldn't you?
