Excited to see what he brings to the table. We haven't had a higher ranked HS recruit on the roster for a handful of years now. Not since Kam Chatman. Last season we had Taurean Thompson a 4 star recruit. But that turned out to be a bust. Hopefully this doesn't turn into that scenario again.

Thompson, I believe, was a total unknown, as he didn’t play ball the year before he joined us? Harvey played last season at Vandy and averaged 20 minutes per game. I don’t see that scenario happening again, I think Harvey is healthy and motivated to have a great final season. My best guess is he averages about 30 min per a game with us and racks up decent enough stats to get a solid pro contract in Europe. Anyone who watched the very limited appearance of Thompson could tell that young man was going through something serious. I hope he’s ok!

Busting Brackets lists DJ Harvey as one of the top 50 impactful transfers from a high major to a mid major program. F DJ Harvey – Detroit Mercy Titans (Horizon League)2020-21 stats: 6.3 ppg and 2.8 rpg After three seasons at both Notre Dame and Vanderbilt, the former top-50 recruit out of high school will be playing alongside one of the best scorers in the country in Antonie Davis, coming off a season of averaging 24.0 ppg and 4.8 apg. The team’s second-leading scorer was 6’7 forward Bul Koul (15.6 ppg) but he went pro this offseason. Harvey is one of several transfers joining the Titans but his defensive potential is the more important. Detroit Mercy has always been able to score but has consistently been one of the worst team defenses in the Horizon. If Harvey can simply have a positive impact on that end, it could finally turn this team into a legit contender in the conference in Davis’ final season.

I started talking to a young woman after the WSU game who was playing with her two-year old beautiful little girl. Turns out it was DJ Harvey’s wife and their daughter. The Harvey’s are expecting a second child any day now (2/22/22 is due date). A beautiful family. Not sure if any of this affects whether or not DJ will come back next season for his bonus year of eligibility, but he’s got a lot happening in his life on the home front.

And while Antoine deservedly becomes legend by channeling Matthew Stafford versus the Browns, 50 seconds beforehand, DJ Harvey hits "the shot of the season" over the reigning HL DPOTY. And then he gets the assist on AD's shot.

Wonderful news for Harvey family!
I really hope DJ returns for his bonus year. I noticed he's enrolled in Master of Arts in Economics, which is likely a two year program. Therefore, it's reasonable to assume completing this degree will be factor in his decision to return to UDM.

That will be 4 schools in 4 years. This transfer policy is a joke.

Was this triggered by AD leaving? That’s too bad. Thought he would be a big piece of next season’s team. I do know know DJ is married and has two young kids, the family was living in an apartment in downtown Detroit. I believe his wife is from Tennessee, perhaps there is a desire to be closer to family. I’m going to take an early guess at his next stop and predict that he ends up at Belmont.

Well, that's disappointing. And unexpected.
