Lol. Good luck with that. At least they got that School's name right I can't imagine that he got a lot of interest in the transfer market. He won't get much attention from the NBA, either, but I expect he will find some opportunities overseas. Not sure overseas is where a young guy with a family wants to be. I thought DJ would test the waters and return to Detroit. Maybe that is what I wanted to believe. Im surprised with the AD offer to his teammates and maybe a little extra $ help that his best option wouldn’t be Detroit. Going overseas with a young family or moving to Canada is not getting his wife closer to her family and support group.

I think being a young guy with a family is what is pushing him to the professional route. He needs to make some money. He's not the type of player who receives a lucrative NIL deal.

Just maybe AD's offer will help him stay and share in the NIL return. I am willing to purchase a box of basketballs if he stays or if we get a quality player of his talents.

Getting something similar to Akec would be around 2000-3000 US.$. The average monthly salary cap in the ECBL is 25000-40000 per mo. With no max. And a 1500$ min. I would think some $ and his Masters degree would be worth a lot more than that.

I do wish he had decided to stick around for another year.

That decision looks like a pay cut and I would hate to lose Harvey for something similar. If he gets $125000 + I might be able to see it but less sure looks like a bad decision or listening to some really bad advice.

Most definitely in the minority here, and it's nothing against him as a person (because he sounds like a nice guy), but Harvey was my least favorite Titan player from the past few years, along with Derrien King, from Davis's 1st season.
Every player that voluntarily decides to leave is an opportunity for us to get better. No one is unreplaceable and if someone doesn't want to be here, we should let them go and stop acting so needy. A full ride to U of D is a great thing and if someone doesn't want it or thinks they can do better, then don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out

Harvey has played four years at college level. Therefore, he doesn’t have to apply for NBA draft…he is automatically eligible. I notice that his name is no longer listed in the portal. Is it possible that he could return to Detroit if he is not selected in NBA draft?

Basketball analyst for 24/7 Sports. They have been tracking player decisions regarding the NBA draft. Usually a good source.

If someone doesn't want to be here, don't beg them to stay. That usually doesn't work out well for anyone. The only guy who transferred who I really had hoped would reconsider was Antoine, and that was for two reason: One, he is probably the only player from last season whose production I would consider irreplaceable. Two, he actually had a long term connection to the Titans. He has played here for four years, gotten his degree, and has alwaya put forth full effort on the court (and obviously in the classroom as well). I am glad he came back. The rest of the guys had varying levels of production, but they all added up to a sub .500 season. None of them seemed to have a real connection to the University or the team. A good program should be able to replace those players with similar talent or even an upgrade. If the Titans aren't able to do that, that says a lot about the state of the program.

DJ should be commended for doing the right thing here by getting out in the real world and working to earn money to support his wife and 2 children. That's what a good man does in those circumstances. There are some things in life more important than playing an extra year of college basketball.

That's what a good man does in those circumstances. There are some things in life more important than playing an extra year of college basketball. I agree. Gotta be weird for Harvey looking back on his basketball career today. He was the #53 recruit in the nation (espn) for his high school class and committed to Notre Dame. I think it’d be reasonable for a kid in that situation to believe he’d have a shot at the NBA and “worst case” would end up in one of the premier European leagues and be a millionaire by 30. Of course, he’s had some set backs. But, damn, I really admire his ability to achieve what he’s done academically. Being a student athlete at ND for two years takes hard word. And, having a degree from Vandy will at least ensure he can find good work and provide well for his family. I do wonder if he’s considering playing professionally overseas. Whatever DJ decides, I wish him and his family all the best. Great young man and impossible not to like.
