Green Bay When: Tuesday, March 1, 7:00 p.m. Where: Historic Calihan Hall TV: ESPN+ Radio: WLQV 1500 AM & 92.7 FM
The Titans and several other teams in the Horizon, ASun and Patriot are scheduled to tip off at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Whoever tips off first will be the second game of the 2022 post season, following a 6:00 p.m. tip-off of Central Arkansas at Stetson in an exciting Atlantic Sun tournament first round game.
This preview is short and sweet. The Titans must win to move on. We inexplicably lost to Green Bay in mid-January, and that cannot happen again. Green Bay is 4-24. They are ranked 344th in NET and 349th in RPI. In their last game, on Saturday, the Phoenix drubbed IUPUI 67-41, snapping an 11 game losing streak that began immediately after upsetting the Titans on January 20. Donovan Ivory, who had 13 against the Titans, has since left the team. The Phoenix have two members of the HL's all-freshman team, guard Kamari McGee, a sometimes deadly streak shooter, and forward Cade Meyer, and a solid small forward in Emmanuel Ansong, but it's all pretty sketchy after that.
There is no excuse for losing this game. Then it's on to, most likely, Northern Kentucky.
Probable Green Bay Starters PG - #5 Lucas Steiber, 6-3 Soph. (4.3 ppg, 3.5 apg, 31.9% 3Pt) SG - #2 Kamari McGee, 6-0 Fr. (11.3 ppg, 1.9 apg, 26.4% 3Pt) SG - #55 Nate Jenkins, 6-2 Jr.. (6.5 ppg, 36.0% 3Pt) SF - #23 Emmanuel Ansong, 6-4 Sr. (11.0 ppg, 5.1 rpg) F - #11 Cade Meyer, 6-8 Fr. (9.3 ppg, 4.4 rpg)
Bench G - #14 Randy Tucker, 6-4 Soph (3.2 ppg, 2.3 rpg) SF - #3 Japannah Kellogg, 6-8 Soph. (6.9 ppg, 4.1 rpg) SF - #13 Ryan Claflin, 6-6 Soph. (2.8 ppg, 31.8% 3Pt) PF - #12 Cem Kirciman, 6-8 Jr. (2.7 ppg, 1.6 rpg)

If I understand things correctly, if IUPUI upsets Oakland and the Titans win, UDM would play Wright St. instead of NKU. OU is a 22 point favorite and ESPN gives them a 99.3% chance of winning that matchup.

Then all day I would be thinking of what I could do with $30,000 . If we win are game, it will be a rubber match against NKU. LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

The Detroit News has an online preview article (behind the subscription paywall) for tonight’s game. It’s divided in two parts of roughly equal length, the first half focused on the Oakland/IUPUI matchup up I-75, the second half about the Detroit Mercy contest with Green Bay: “Talent alone hasn't been enough for Oakland, Detroit Mercy entering Horizon tournament” www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/college/2022/02/28/horizon-league-oakland-detroit-mercy-basketball/6973150001/I also subscribe to the e-Edition of the Detroit News, the replica of the on-the-street newspaper you can buy at the store or get home delivered to your doorstep. In that version they edited for length by essentially keeping the Oakland part intact and reducing the Detroit Mercy segment to a small paragraph. SMH

I got it to the editors too late in the evening, they were under a time crunch. Had to make a quick decision.”

When the News and the Freep were competitive newspapers the Freep was the newspaper for the city and the News was the paper for the suburbs.

And probably a lie, since the preferential coverage for Oakland is Tony Paul's MO.

Let's start a winning streak and force the Snews and Flop Press to cover us a week from tonight and spend some of their precious money to send TP all the way to Indianapolis for a U-D game in the Horizon Championship. That's the only solution.

FWIW, from the online Detroit News article: “Junior forward Madut Akec is battling a bad ankle, but did some running Monday and should be cleared to play.” I would guess he is not close to being in game shape, but who knows what his availability might be if the Titans are fortunate enough to be playing beyond this week.

This is why I stop buying the Detroit News. No real professionals behind the ink. Two sport teams I would assume Tony Paul know well and could get an article done on any day of the week in a timely manor. Along with having an editor that could do his job instead of rubber stamping things threw.
A professional take his work seriously and no matter how remedial the task is will work as if it was the most important thing.
P.S. my new font for tony paul from today on will be subscript . Goes well with a subpar writer.

I hope he would see the floor but for a limited time(5-10min) if he is clear today.

No prediction, and we've got 36 minutes to play, but I could tell immediately we came with our Game Faces today.
