He’s doing what’s best for him. He owes us fans, the school and the athletic department nothing… time to stop hiring fathers and hope their sons save us. Time to reset and build.

As college basketball moves further towards being a business on the players' side of the equation as well as on the schools' side of things, I wish Antoine only the best. It will be odd at first not to see him out there.
Now the focus shifts to his father and whether he can recruit some good replacements and even add some good local talent to the roster. Some recruits may now consider us more strongly since they now know they can become a leading scoring option. And the critics won't have the "daddyball" card to play.

He gave his all as a Titan for 4 yrs. I’m sad to see him go but I get it and don’t take it negatively or anything. Best of luck and with the extra year he does have a unique opportunity to experience something different, at the high major level or high mid major.

I wish AD all the best and thank him for his excellent 4-years. Someday, his number will hang among other Titan greats.
I can’t help but feel that this was a bad career choice. If he stays at UD, he’s guaranteed to remain one of the leading scorers in the nation with very high visibility and a great chance of being a second round pick as an NBA player who may have the ability to stretch the floor. Now, by transferring, he takes a risk of becoming a team player, or possibly a role player and fall off the radar. It’s safe to say that he’s not going anywhere major where he will be able to take 20 shots a game. At the right mid-major, he may be a team player and take 10-15 shots a game.

Thanks for your contributions, and good luck.
Seems like the AD better start doing his research for a head coach for 2023-24.

Antoine Davis to Tony Paul: "I mean, I feel like I did my time here, I feel like I've done so much for this university, you know. I felt like it was time to explore some options." I dont know how Antoine could feel like shooting 25+ shots per game, being option #1,#2,#3,#4 and #5, and having complete freedom on the basketball court is "doing time"...then I know some folks in the MDOC who would love to do that type of "time" . His daddy was paid over 2.5 million dollars the past 4 years, I think it was more than a fair exchange.

Tony Paul wrote that the Titans will only have one of their top five scorers (Akec) back for next season. Aren’t McAdoo, Harvey and Waterman returning? All have remaining eligibility and not currently in transfer portal.

We I wish him good luck! He better be really careful where he goes. Could end up being a six or seventh man after about 5 games. That will not help his future. It’s tough to play for your father and tough to have to coach your son. I hope this works for the best for all concerned. One bad thing here is MD will miss most of his sons final college season and it is nice to have your dad around. It did sound from MD’s statements in the past that he felt AD was coming back.

All have remaining eligibility and not currently in transfer portal. Tony Paul revised article now reads “With Davis' departure, Detroit Mercy will rely more heavily on forward Madut Akec, who averaged 12.7 points and seven rebounds, as well as guards Kevin McAdoo and DJ Harvey, and swingman Noah Waterman.”

Yeah, at the very least, it was an unfortunate choice of words. 🙂 Antoine played well while he was here. The team success didn't match his individual accomplishments but I always felt like he gave 100 %. I think Mike Davis and Mike Woodson are friends. I could see Antoine thriving as a Hoosier. Of course, Antoine might not want to go to the place that fired his father.

On Twitter he said "I thought they had exhausted their eligibility. I was mistaken." How can a guy who is assigned the local college basketball beat be that clueless on something as simple as player eligibility?

Imaging It now… Antoine has great year and gets drafted in the 2nd round. On Draft night ESPN has the university he went to………: “the school he transferred to” titan nightmare
