Sadly this is not a Mole prank.

Antoine Davis to Tony Paul: "I mean, I feel like I did my time here, I feel like I've done so much for this university, you know. I felt like it was time to explore some options."

Tony Paul:
“Potentially a major factor in Antoine Davis' decision to leave Detroit Mercy -- depending where he goes, there could be an opportunity for a six-figure NIL deal that he was never going to land staying in Detroit. The Titans' profile is, let's just say, low.”
“He tells me he’s not ruling out mid-majors. Really sounds like he’s ready for a change.”

Of interest in the Tony Paul article, it says Mike Davis only has one more year on his contract. I think odds are the Titans have rather poor season, Mike Davis leaves, and then we have a long rebuild in front of us with low odds of success.

I am truly surprised and annoyed and disappointed. This was a 180-degree reversal and it shakes my faith. It's not easy to shake my faith, either. Not sure where we go next and, for the first time in awhile, not really interested in who we sign and looking forward to a break from U-D hoops. Life goes on, and I too will "always be a Titan," but this sucks.
And just to prove Sam's theory, from the last paragraph of the Tony Paul article:
And, for the record, no, Davis won't be becoming a Golden Grizzly. Yes, Oakland head coach Greg Kampe recruited him very hard out of high school, but the switch to Detroit Mercy's chief rival isn't going to happen.

I think our fan base should disband and we should all pledge allegiance to new programs.

I would be shocked if he went mid major. Also, I have no memory of Oakland recruiting Davis. There is no mention of an OU offer on Verbal Commits or 24/7. Tony Paul is obviously just taking what Kampe tells him as gospel.

I didn't even consider a transfer a possibility before yesterday.

Thank you AD for representing our program and yourself in a first class manner for the past 4 years. Good luck wherever you end up - I'll remain a fan and follower of your career.

On a positive note, lots of publicity for the University today. The branding in general was correct most of the time 🤔

Pretty good stamp of approval for his father and his teammates. I never thought he was a team player. He is the first to break ranks and chase the rainbow. I think someone gave this young man some really bad advice. I will make a prediction that he will not be a point guard if he goes major! I am really disappointed in this decision both for AD and for UD.
