Kansas State adds a four star small forward to the class of 2020. Bruce Weber is doing a great job there. He didn't let getting fired by Illinois slow him down, and conversely, Illinois has been terrible since they fired him. kansasstate.rivals.com/commitments/basketball/2020

Official Big 12 Poll:
1. Kansas 2. Baylor 3. Texas Tech 4. Texas 5. West Virginia 6. Oklahoma State 7. Iowa State 8. Oklahoma 9. Kansas State 10.TCU
You know you have a deep conference when the coaches of the three teams projected to be the worst have all gone to at least the Elite Eight. I think the Kansas pick is a good one. Texas Tech seems kind of high given what they lost, but Beard is an excellent coach. A fourth place finish would be good for Texas and Shaka Smart, who is facing some discontentment among the fan base. TCU, Kansas, and OU would be no worse than middle of the pack in some other big conferences.

GREAT news regarding leukemia survivor Andrew Jones, from Jeff Goodman: "Best news of the day from the college hoops front? Andrew Jones had 20 points in 21 minutes in Texas’ 92-76 win over UTSA in a scrimmage. Also 3-for-6 from deep. Matt Coleman had 19, Jase Febres with 17. UTSA was led by Jhivvan Jackson’s 30 points."

Two Big 12 teams nabbed five star recruits.
Texas Tech got a verbal commitment from Nimari Burnett, a shooting guard from Chicago. ESPN ranks him the #19 player in his class. HUGE pick up for Texas Tech, and easily the highest ranked recruit in program history.
Kansas added 25th ranked Bryce Thompson, a guard from Oklahoma. KU coach Bill Self coached Thompson's father when both were at Tulsa.

Andrew Jones, who fought off leukemia over the past couple of years, gets my vote for the best story in college basketball this year. Jones is averaging 12 points per game this season, and showing no ill effects. Keep praying for this young man and his inspirational story.

Texas is putting together a strong end of season run. Looks like they don't want to see Coach Smart go. On February 14, the Horns were 14-11, 4-8, and on a four game losing streak. Since then, they have won five in a row, including two against ranked teams and three on the road. They have put themselves back in the NCAA conversation. During this streak, they have been without four players, starters and rotation guys, who have been out by injury. They have stepped up.
UT closes out the regular season at home against OK State on Saturday.

The Horns will be 19-12, 9-9. They will need to get some wins in the Big 12 tourney to feel relaxed on Selection Sunday.

The only coach who might be in trouble is Shaka Smart.
