I just talked to my cousin, the Wolstein Mole. He said the coaching staff was embezzling funds and violating numerous university policies. He also told me - seriously - that Rick Pitino is in the mix for the job. On top of that, the NCAA served NC State with a notice of allegations two days ago. And 11 more power 6 schools could also receive such notices. Therefore, Cleveland State must be penalized. It's been a tough post-season for the HL. NKU loses its coach. Oakland loses half its team. We get the APR ban. Now, Cleveland State fires its coach.

CSU’s new coach—whoever that may be—is going to have to have open tryouts just to field a team.

I don’t see why Dunn should get a waiver.

I don’t see why Dunn should get a waiver. I do and I'll bet he gets one. Went to Cleveland to play for Felton. Sat out a year and now would have to sit another year. I can see a waiver for Williams at Oakland also.

Williams may get a waiver to play at Oakland next season, but the primary basis will be health issues involving a close family member from what I’ve heard.

Cleveland State is setting itself up to possibly have one of the worst years in college basketball history. I don’t even know how they’re going to field a team next season. Best case scenario, they name a coach in the next week or two (mid July) and then that coach has about 4-5 weeks to hire a coaching staff and recruit players?! I don’t even see how that’s possible. Who is he going to recruit? There might be some players out there but the clock is ticking and anyone remotely talented is within the next week or so making a decision about what he’s doing this fall. I imagine some players are considering going D2 just to get more minutes and enjoy the game. And who would want to play for CSU next year? Not to mention anyone recruited will need to formally apply to CSU and get admitted before classes start. This roster could end up being a bunch of D3/NAIA players.

This is from the Coaching Changes Twitter site: Rumors of mutiny are flying at Cleveland State right now We’ve heard the best player is leaving and 6 more might be leaving too unless AD Scott Garrett makes a change If true, that "best player" would be Tyree Appleby. CSU has had 2 promising, rising sophs (Rashad Williams and Seth Millner) enter the transfer portal late in the season. It's already a shame, as CSU had a lot of talent coming back. Appleby to Florida.

Forward Stefan Kenic enters the transfer portal. Forward averaged nine points per game last year.

Cleveland State mascot, Magnus, has entered the transfer portal. Already has offers from Northern Kentucky and Portland State. Averaged home crowd attendance last season of 743.

Seems like a good fit, and he would probably take it, even though it is a mess. I imagine a lot of experienced coaches would be cautious about taking the job if they thought there were other options. On the surface, it looks like the school fired Felton after two years because some players transferred. That wouldn't inspire much in the way of confidence among candidates.

Cleveland State now picks up Jalen Williams, a 6'8" 245 lbs grad transfer from Furman. Williams is re-opening his recruitment.
