We're seeing some surprising scores in the foreign trips of 2015. Illinois was blown out by a Dutch team. DePaul was crushed by a French team. Louisville was taken apart and lost by 34 to a Puerto Rican team. What I am noticing is that most of these schools aren't playing the local college team on these trips. DePaul, Illinois, and Louisville all played teams made up of grown men in their twenties and thirties with US college and pro league experience. The competition is much tougher than it has been historically on these trips. But even some of the college teams are better. The Canadians are catching up. Valpo got clobbered tonight by Carlton, 77-59.

This is another result that surprised me. From Twitter:
Jon Rothstein @jonrothstein 3h3 hours ago Bit of a shocker in Rome: Texas A&M falls to the Nigerian national team by 32. Humility continues to be served in Europe. Danuel House DNP.

Marquette is having a very good trip. Not sure of the competition level, but it's a great opportunity for a young team to play together and build chemistry.
From the Twittersphere:

Horizon affiliate Belmont, which will appear on Valpo's schedule this year (and some rumors Cleveland State's, too), went 3-0 on a trip to England and Ireland. They defeated the Dagenham Dragons 120-50, the Thames Valley Cavaliers , and the 111-55, and the Dublin Swords 101-62. Basketball is not strong in England and the two British teams play in the lower level English Basketball League, basically semi-pro, so I doubt this was fierce competition. The Swords play in Ireland's top league, but while the Irish are known for many things, they are not known for their basketball.
Still, you average 111 points per game and a 55 point victory margin, you gotta feel good.

Interesting that no Horizon teams are traveling this year.

Using a phrase popular with the youth today, Wichita State head coach Gregg Marshall nutted up and went off on the refs during an exhibition in Canada and was ejected. I haven't seen the video, but it was bad enough that Wichita State suspended him for the final exhibition of the trip.

I haven't seen the video, but it was bad enough that Wichita State suspended him for the final exhibition of the trip. I saw a clip of Gregg Marshall going after the refs in that game. He had to be physically restrained from attacking the officials. If you ask me, he deserves to be suspended for a regular season(s). It was out of control.
