OSU parts way with their coach. Wow. I wasn't expecting that. I know they have had a couple of down years, but he's been good there overall. UDBaller, what are your thoughts? Sorry, Sam. It's a rare occasion when I check these other threads. It was time for Holtmann to go. He had a number of decent years but never excelled and, in my opinion, never overachieved. With the setup OSU has in regards to NIL+, it's not difficult to make an immediate splash. That being the case, dude has yet to make a splash and has lost an incredible amount of basketball games. I was rooting for him the succeed... but recruiting hasn't even been great. they try to blame it on one-and-dones... but the Buckeyes one-and-done weren't really even good enough to make an impact at the college level. I picture a one-and-done making an immediate impact like a Kevin Durant, OJ Mayo or Zion. Brice Sensibaugh is a nice player... but not exactly gonna lead you to the promised land. Hes the type of one-and-done that Matta got after the Thad 5. I wasnt ultra excited about Kosta Koufos or BJ Mullens either.

IU is killing in the portal this off-season, getting commitments from three coveted guys from the PAC 12: 1. Oumar Ballou from Arizona. 7-0 center, put up 13 points and 10 boards per game while shooting 66% from the floor. 2. Kannan Carlyle from Stanford. 6-3 guard, averaged 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists while making the PAC 12 All Freshman team. 3. Myles Rice from Washington State. 6-3 guard named first team all PAC 12 as well as PAC 12 freshman of the year. Averaged 15 points per game. Earlier in the off season, the Hoosiers signed five star class of 2024 recruit Bryson Tucker. How's coach Woodson been doing in his first three years in Bloomington? When he came to IU, the Hoosiers hadn't made an NCAA tournament in five straight seasons and had won only 12 games in the previous year. Woody got them into the tournament in year one, and they won a First Four game to finish at 21-14. In year two the Hoosiers finished 21-13 and made the round of 32. This past season, the Hoosiers had good start, followed by some mid season struggles, before winning 5 of their last 6 to finish 19-14, 10-10. The chose not to accept an NIT bid. That's not a bad three year stretch given recent Hoosier seasons, but a good chunk of Hoosier fans on social media have been loudly calling for Woodson's firing. It used to be that winning 62% of your games (including 52% in conference play) with two Big Dance appearances three years into a total rebuild was enough to keep the wolves at bay, at least for awhile. But as Bob Dylan said, the times they are a-changing.
