GMU seems to have opened up some Michigan pipeline, with Grayer, then Kamari Newman last year. They also got the big backup center Dixon from Grosse Pointe (Class of '14) after he took a prep year.

Here's a transfer I'd be interested in:
Boston College sophomore AJ Turner told ESPN he will transfer. Has received his release.

The rumors have already started as to what local (Michigan) school will get him. BA could go a long way toward saving this recruiting class if he could make Turner part of it.

Latin Davis is leaving Y State New coach, maybe a new system. I'm still trying to get an idea of how good Latin is going to be on the college level. He might not be the last of the YSU players to look elsewhere to continue their college basketball career.

One time Titan target Marquel Ingram is transferring from Bethune Cookman. He averaged 2.9 points in 30 games as a freshman, and was redshirted last year.

I'm surprised at the way his career has gone. He looked like a very solid mid major prospect in high school. Probably going the D2 route now. Perhaps he ends up in the GLIAC and plays in his home state while completing his degree. I wish him luck. I remember the conversations we had about whether we'd prefer Ingram or Mar'qwell Jackson as Titan guards. Neither has reached the level I thought they would.

That was quick - Manuel has signed with Loyola Marymount. I'm guessing he wanted to be enrolled before they start spring term (probably Monday) so he can play next year after fall semester. You kinda wonder if, being on the West Coast, he thought it would be all sunny and warm in Oregon, and needed a geography lesson. Of course, I don't know any of the situation, or the people, but strictly from an objective basketball standpoint, it seems to me a kid like that might do better to finish the year at Oregon, transfer and sit a year, and then have three years of eligibility (including the now common 5th year transfer possibility if he graduates in 4). With the mid-season transfer he essentially loses half of this season and about 30-40% of next season, shortening his college career to about 3 years of actual playing eligibility; the transfer decision is made in a hurry; and I still think the mid-season transfer (that is to say, joining a team in mid-season after a year not playing) is tough to do and hurts performance (it I had the time I think that would make an interesting study). But he must have other calculations. It always seems to me that a player looking to transfer is better off finishing out the year rather than transferring mid year, especially a freshman. Stick out the year (maybe things get better), stay on track academically, take your time and find the right spot. In any case, LMU seems like a curious spot for Manuel. Manuel moves on again, will be leaving Loyola Marymount. He played for 3 high schools--perhaps a warning of a young kid unlikely to be satisfied. He'll have to sit out 2017-18, and will then have two full years of eligibility. www.lansingstatejournal.com/story/sports/college/2017/07/06/trevor-manuel-everett-oregon-loyola-marymount/457516001/

He's certainly not doing himself any favors, though. Surely didn't help himself with the prep school move, and as we said at the time, leaving Oregon after a semester was too hasty a decision. It's interesting to compare the career tracks of Manuel and Deyonta Davis. Manuel was definitely considered the better player early on in their high school careers. That prep school thing doesn't work out for everyone.

After transferring out of Rider, former almost Titan player Lacey James has now settled on Northern Illinois as his next destination. Odd that a player who saw almost no playing time at a MAAC school could transfer and take a small step up to the MAC I wondered where he was going to end up. Surprising that he would go "up" after struggling in the MAAC, and I'm kind of surprised that Northern Illinois would be interested. Perhaps his health issues were holding him back last year and there are indications that those are in the past for him now. I hope it all works out for him. NIU's twitter account posted a pick of Lacey James in his uniform with the caption "Happy Birthday @laceyjames10! We can't wait to finally have you on the floor this year!" I hope his health concerns are in the past and that he has a solid career.

I heard he has some connection with the coach there and wanted to play for him. I'm pretty sure this was Steve Bell's surprise transfer news.
