Friday, February 22IUPUI's win guarantees our Titans a spot in the Horizon Conference Tournament. I hope our goal is still more than being the #8 seed in the conference tournament, but we shouldn't totally knock that, either. Before the season began, I gathered 16 public pre-season predictions for the Titans, plus two computer predictions (Ken Pom and Sagarin). Seventeen of the 18 had the Titans missing the conference tournament. udtitanbasketball.freeforums.net/post/10376/thread Now let's win out and get a good seed-- a home game is still possible, though unlikely after the result in tonight's other HL game. Horizon LeagueGreen Bay 63, UIC 62. UIC (14-14, 8-7) did one of its patented collapses, blowing a 19 point halftime lead at home against Green Bay (15-13, 9-6). It was a wild finish. Green Bay's JayQuan McCloud, an 86% free throw shooter, missed three straight from the line in the final 30 seconds, leaving UIC down a point and with the ball with 7 seconds left. But Kam Hankerson stole the ball to give Green Bay the win. Hankerson, from Novi, just kills the Titans, and he did it indirectly tonight--it's an unfortunate result for the Titans, because UIC is still one game ahead of Detroit, and will hold the tie breaker over us even if we beat them next week. Thus it just about kills our remaining hopes of hosting a first round game. The win leaves Green Bay in sole possession of third place in the HL. IUPUI 67, Milwaukee 60. The doesn't quite eliminate Milwaukee (9-19, 4-11), but to reach the HL tournament they've got to win out while IUPUI loses its final three. Don't see that happening. Milwaukee didn't go down without a fight. The final seven point margin, coming on a pair of IUPUI free throws with 3 seconds left, was the largest lead of the game for either team. IUPUI's Jaylon Minnett led all scorers with 22 points. The win leaves IUPUI (15-13, 7-8) tied with Detroit for 7th. They visit Calihan next Thursday. Titan Non-Conference Opponents#25 Buffalo 80, Kent State 57. Buffalo took the lead with a 10-0 run to end the first half, and then steadily pulled away in the second. Milan's Nick Perkins had 27 points for Buffalo (24-3). Coach Ray had offered Perkins. Kent State is 19-8. Can you say CIT? Ohio 92, Bowling Green 87 (OT). Bowling Green (19-8) falls a game behind Buffalo in the MAC West. Demajeo Wiggins had 20 points and 14 rebounds in the loss. Ohio U (12-14) snapped a six game losing streak. Other Games#21 Iowa 76, Indiana 70 (OT). Iowa (21-6) never led in the second half but was able to force the OT and win it there. Davidson 75, Rhode Island 66. Brown 88, Harvard 79. The Bears' next win will give them their highest season win total since 2008. Brown (16-9) has never won 20 games in a season. Canisius 60, Monmouth 59. The Golden Griffs (13-14) never trailed, nor led by more than 5, in the second half. Monmouth missed on its final possession, with 5 seconds left. Canisius holds on to first in the MAAC, while Monmouth falls out of the race.

For scoreboard watchers, keep an eye on this afternoon's Youngstown State @ Wright State game, which starts at 3:00 p.m., same as the Titans/Oakland. If YSU wins that game, they will control the tiebreaker in any tie with Detroit. A YSU win and a Titan loss guarantees that YSU finishes ahead of us in the standings, but even a YSU win and Detroit win means that we would have to sweep next week's games and have YSU lose to Cleveland State to catch the Penguins. OTOH, if YSU loses, the Titans will control the tiebreaker, meaning we would finish ahead of YSU by winning any two of final 3 games, or even just 1 if the Penguins lose to Cleveland State in their 1 remaining game.

Watched the first half of the Virginia vs. Louisville. The announcers were going crazy because Louisville hit 10 threes in the first half. However, they only scored 37 first half points and were only up ten at the break. I KNEW they were going to lose that game, and I am mad at myself for not making that prediction here at halftime. Final score: UVA 64, UL 52. 15 points scored by the Cardinals in the second half. They only hit two three pointers in the final session, and had only five two point field goals for the entire game.

Saturday, February 23 A big day, with most of the top 25 in action, regular season titles being determined, and teams jockeying for seeding or just to get into the NCAA.
Horizon Oakland 95, Detroit 75. Mercifully, the Titans have just 3 more losses this year--to UIC and IUPUI next week, and then in the first round of the HL tournament. I can't name a player on the team who is playing better now than at the end of December. Maybe Marquis Moore? Maybe Harrison Curry? Nor can I name more than 1 player that I think we can count on for next year, although there are a couple of maybes in the bunch. Over the last 5 games, the Titans have given up an average of over 88 points per game. Very disappointing.
Wright State 82, Youngstown State 54. By thrashing YSU, Wright State keeps alive the Titans' hopes of catching the Penguins in the standings. Detroit will hold the tie breaker over the Penguins, and so needs to pick up a half game next weekend. However, since YSU hosts Cleveland State in its final game, that means the Titans probably have to sweep UIC and IUPUI. That would require a level of play we've not seen in over a month.
Cleveland State 83, Northern Kentucky 77. WTF? Who'd a thought it? At NKU no less. It's not like NKU had nothing to play for--they entered the game needing a win to stay tied for first with Wright State. Jalaam Hill had 26 points and 12 rebounds for last place CSU.
Titan Non-Conference Opponents Dayton 70, St. Louis 62. Dayton (18-9) keeps alive its flickering hopes in the A10 race.
Temple 84, Tulsa 73. Temple (20-7) can't afford to lose if they want to go to the Big Dance, and they won tonight behind 49 points from Shizz Alston and Quinton Rose.
Eastern Michigan 77, Western Michigan 76 (OT). Leading 74-66 with 1:18 left in overtime, Eastern proceeded to miss 7 of 10 free throws, including its final 4 attempts, but just managed to hang on. James Thompson had 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Kevin McAdoo scored 16 for the Eagles (13-14). Seth Dugan had 15 points and 10 rebounds for WMU (8-19).
Toledo 57, Northern Illinois 54. A dunk by one-time Titan signee Lacy James gave NIU an 43-32 lead with 12 minutes to play, but Toledo (21-6) dominated the game's final quarter.
Akron 70, Miami 58. Tyler Cheese had 28 points for Akron (15-12).
Boston U. 71, Loyola (Md) 65. In contrast to Eastern Michigan, BU (13-16) went 6-6 from the foul line in the final 34 seconds to clinch the win over Loyola (10-19).
Other Games Central Michigan 64, Ball State 57.
#1 Duke 75, Syracuse 65. With Zion out, RJ Barrett had 30 to pace Duke (24-3). #2 Gonzaga 102, Brigham Young 68. #3 Virginia 64, Louisville 52. Virginia (24-2) trailed by 10 at the half but held Louisville (18-10) to 15 points in the second period. #4 Kentucky 80, Auburn 53. #13 Louisiana State 82, #5 Tennessee 80 (OT). LSU (22-5) beat a top 5 team for the second straight time, after beating Kentucky by 2 last week. Tennessee (24-3) led almost the entire game, but couldn't put LSU away and got lucky to get to OT when LSU missed a potential game winner in the final seconds. The Volunteers led again for most of the extra period, but LSU tied it with 5 seconds left. Tennessee quickly went the length of the court and missed a three, and then Grant Williams got called for a dumb foul on Ja'Vonte Smart with 1 second left. Smart nailed the free throws for the win.
#6 Nevada 74, Fresno State 68. #8 North Carolina 77, #16 Florida State 59. I thought UNC (22-5) might have a letdown after their beatdown of Duke, but no. #9 Houston 71, South Florida 59. Houston (26-1) keeps trucking. USF (18-9) probably loses its last chance to enter at-large discussions. #11 Marquette 76, Providence 58. #14 Texas Tech 91, #12 Kansas 62. It's not the winner, it's the margin that says "Whoa, whu happened?" Tech (22-5) never trailed, and led by 25 at halftime. Although Kansas (20-7) isn't formally out of it, this probably ends their streak of 14 consecutive Big 12 regular season titles.
#15 Purdue 75, Nebraska 72. TCU 75, #19 Iowa State 72. Badly needed win for TCU (18-9), trying to solidify a spot in the field. #20 Virginia Tech 67, Notre Dame 59. The Irish fall to 13-14. #22 Wisconsin 69, Northwestern 64. #23 Kansas State 85, Oklahoma State 46. The lead was 24 at halftime and just kept growing. #24 Maryland 72, Ohio State 62. OSU (17-10) is 5-9 since the end of December.
St. John's 78, Seton Hall 70. Seton Hall (16-11) has to be glad tomorrow isn't selection Sunday. Oklahoma 69, Texas 67. UCLA 90, Oregon 83. Oregon State 67, USC 62. Oregon State (17-9) is trying to get into the bubble discussion, but has a ways to go. Duquesne 79, George Mason 78. The Dukes trailed by 19 in the early going. Duquesne (18-9) has had just 6 winning seasons since their glory days ended in the mid-1970s. The Dukes haven't won more than 21 games in a season since 1962. They have at least 5 games left this year.
Harvard 88, Yale 86. Old Eli's hopes we are dashing! Harvard (14-9) keeps the Ivy league race in play, with Yale (18-5) a game up on the Crimson and Princeton. Bryce Aiken led Harvard with 28 points.
Wofford 72, Furman 64. Wofford (24-4) beat a good Furman team (22-6) to clinch the Southern Conference title. If they fail to win the conference tournament, they're a good bet for an at-large bid, which would be the first ever for the SoCon. The Terriers are 24th in the NET rankings, with their 4 losses to #9 UNC and at #15 Kansas, #26 Mississippi State, and #38 Oklahoma. They've got 7 wins over top 100 teams, including a 20-point thrashing of South Carolina on the road.
Old Dominion 67, Western Kentucky 63. ODU (22-6) clinched at least a tie for the title in Conference USA. James Madison 104, Hofstra 99 (OT). Hofstra (23-6) could have clinched the CAA regular season with a win. New Mexico State 88, Texas-Rio Grande Valley 79. The Aggies (24-4) clinch the WAC regular season title with their 13th straight win.

As I write this post, South Florida is up on SMU 39-15. SMU has 15 total points and 15 total rebounds. Tacko Fall of USF has 12 points and 15 rebounds by himself.

Sunday, February 24
Horizon IUPUI 79, Green Bay 68. In a game in which the contestants were never more than 2 possession apart for the first 35 minutes, a little 8-0 run by IUPUI 16-13 (8-8) late was all it took. Ultimately, the difference was IUPUI's backcourt combo of Grant Weatherford and Cameron Justice, who combined to make 9 of 12 three point attempts.
UIC 74, Milwaukee 59. UIC, Oakland, and Green Bay are tied for third heading into the final week of play. Two of the three will get home gets--unless IUPUI passes them up.
Titan Non-Conference Opponents Xavier 66, #17 Villanova 54. After an 11 game winning streak, Villanova (20-8) has lost 3 in a row and 4 of 5. Meanwhile Xavier, which appeared headed for a losing season two weeks ago, has won 4 in a row and could even sneak into the NCAA picture if they can keep the streak going--their remaining regular season games are home and home against St. John's, and at Butler, all resume building opportunities. They've moved into a tie for 4th in the Big East, just a game in back of St. John's. Xavier (15-13) trailed the entire first half today and the first 8 minutes of the second. But starting at the 12:40 mark of the second half, the Musketeers held the Wildcats scoreless for over 9 minutes to take a 14 point lead, which they easily defended down the stretch.
Other Games #10 Michigan State 77, #7 Michigan 70. I wouldn't object to a Final Four rematch, and it's possible, although I think both teams probably peaked a couple weeks ago. Good game today, with State (23-5) pulling away in the final minutes. UM is 24-4- overall. Cassius Winston had 27 points and 8 assists in today's win.
Iona 87, Canisius 80. In the crazy MAAC race--the conference no one wants to win--Iona (13-15) displaces the Golden Griffs (13-15) in the top spot. Iona and Rider--which is now tied with Canisius in second--will face off for what could be the regular season title next Friday.
Cincinnati 64, Connecticut 60.
Southern Illinois 63, Loyola 53. Illinois State 67, Drake 60. The MVC is another conference no one seems to want to win. Today's losses leave Drake (21-8) and Loyola (17-12) tied for first with Missouri State (16-13), a game up on Northern Iowa.
NC State 94, Wake Forest 74. Arizona State 69, California 59. Bucknell 118, Lafayette 76. Lafayette (10-17) came in on a 5-game winning streak in which they'd allowed an average of 69 points per game. Bucknell (18-10) almost equalled that in the first half, and led by as many as 57 in the second half. The Bison made 21 of 36 three point attempts.

Sunday, February 24[#10 Michigan State 77, #7 Michigan 70. I don't think the Spartans had time to peak. They lost Langford to injury after 13 games, taking away their second leading scorer, and then lost Ward recently. Most of the season has been reacting to injury issues and adjusting on the fly.

Monday, February 25
Some Games of Note #15 Kansas 64, #16 Kansas State 49. Kansas (21-7) hangs in there in their quest for a 15th consecutive Big 12 title, knocking off in-state rival and league leader K State (also 21-7) with surprising ease. #18 Florida State 68, Notre Dame 61. The Irish (13-15) appear headed for their first losing season in 20 years.
Iowa State 78, Oklahoma State 61. Lipscomb 81, NJIT 77. Lipscomb (22-6) moves back into first in the Atlantic Sun by beating third place NJIT (20-10).
Alcorn State 61, Alabama A&M 55. Today is the 149th anniversary of the swearing in of U.S. Senator Hiram Revels. A minister and school teacher, Revels, a Republican from Mississippi, was the first African-American U.S. senator. After his single term in the Senate, he became the first president ever at Alcorn A&M, today known, of course, as Alcorn State.

Titan Non-Conference Opponents Dayton 72,[/]i Massachusetts 48. Dayton (19-9) held UMass (10-18) to 18 first half point.
Memphis 81, Temple 73. Temple (20-8) couldn't afford this loss. They can't afford any losses.
Providence 73, Butler 67 (OT). No NCAA for you! Either of you!
Central Michigan 77, Eastern Michigan 66. Central (20-8) stays right the heels of Toledo in the MAC West. Warren's Kevin McKay had 26 points and 10 rebounds for Central. Eastern falls to 13-15.
Northern Illinois 70, Western Michigan 65. In November I had no idea Western (8-20) would be so bad this year.
Toledo 80, Ball State 72. At 22-6, Toledo is probably good for an NIT bid.
Kent State 78, Ohio 73. The Golden Flash (20-8) get to 20 wins for the 17th time in 21 years. Inkster's Jaylin Walker led the way tonight with 23 points. Ohio is 12-15.
Miami (Oh) 82, Bowling Green 69. BGSU (19-9) loses is second in a row. The Falcons have a 9-9 season sandwiched around a 10 game winning streak, and appear to have peaked a bit too early.
#25 Buffalo 77, Akron 64. Tyler Cheese had 20, but Akron (15-13) had nothing to smile about.
Lesser Games #20 Virginia Tech 77, #3 Duke 72. Come back, Zion! Come back! #4 Kentucky 70, Arkansas 66. That was tough. Kentucky (24-4) had to come back from a 15 point second half deficit, and didn't wrap it up until there were 3 seconds left, when they successfully did the ole foul 'em before they can shoot the three. Arkansas (14-14) intentionally missed the second free throw, to no avail, and the final margin came on free throws after the Razorbacks' desperate foul with 1 second left.
#5 North Carolina 93, Syracuse 85. Coby White had 34 points for Carolina (23-5).
#11 LSU 66, Texas A&M 55. Indiana 75, #19 Wisconsin 73 (2OT). What does one make of the Hoosiers? They won 12 of their first 14, beating Marquette, Louisville, and Butler, and losing only to Duke and by 1 point at Arkansas. They then lost 12 of 13, but the one win in there was at Michigan State. Tonight they squeezed by #19 Wisconsin (19-9), with Romeo Langford hitting the game winner at the buzzer in the second OT. Langford finished with 22. For Wisconsin, Dmitric Trice did his darnest--his 2 free throws with 5 seconds left forced the overtime; his late three pointer tied the game to force a second OT; and after being fouled on a three point attempt, he hit all three free throws to tie the score with 9 seconds left in the second overtime. Somewhat oddly, other than his last second heroics, Trice had a really bad night, shooting 2-10 from the floor and just 6-9 from the line.
Ohio State 90, #22 Iowa 70. OSU (18-10) really needed this one, and got it in fine fashion.
West Virginia 104, TCU 96 (OT). VCU 71, St. Louis 65. With its 9th straight win, VCU (22-6) moves 1.5 up on Davidson and 2 on Dayton in the A10 race. Utah State 70, San Diego State 54. The Utes (23-6) host Nevada on Saturday, and can get a long way toward an at-large bid with a win.

Wednesday, February 27
Titan Non-Conference Opponents Army 79, Loyola (Md) 69. Loyola (10-20) lost despite 32 points from Andrew Kostecka.
Other Games #2 Virginia 81, Georgia Tech 51. #7 Tennessee 73, Mississippi 71. Grant Williams hit a jumper with 3 seconds left for the lead, and added a free throw with 1 second left for the final margin. #8 Houston 99, East Carolina 65. Villanova 67, #10 Marquette 61. #11 Texas Tech 84, Oklahoma State 80 (OT). #12 Nevada v. UNLV (late). I remember when UNLV was the big program in the desert. #14 Purdue 73, Illinois 56. Penn State 78, #17 Maryland 61. The Nittany Lions (12-16) dominated the Terps (21-8). #23 Cincinnati 52, SMU 49.
UCF 75, South Florida 63. Georgetown 82, DePaul 73.
Illinois State 65, Missouri State 57. Drake 80, Indiana State 68. Loyola 56, Northern Iowa 55. With one game left, a pair of resurgent programs, Drake and Loyola, sit atop the MVC, with Missouri State falling a game back.

Thursday, February 28
Horizon Detroit 87, IUPUI 85. That got a bit hairy, but the Titans get a badly needed win, and Antoine Davis sets the freshman record for threes. Six Titans scored in double figures tonight, and Marquis Moore got his first ever double-double, with some clutch buckets and rebounds. Some nice clutch play by Lamar Hamrick, too. And Josh hit two huge threes late, on his way to 23 points. Good to see Willie hit the floor, too. Always feel good after a win. Only the size of the crowd (1786) was disappointing, but it looked like a good student turnout.
Oakland 86, UIC 72. Oakland (14-16, 10-8) clinched a quarterfinal home game for the HL tournament with the win. Brad Brechting continued his good play with 20 points and 8 rebounds, and 5 Grizz scored in double figures. Godwin Boahen led UIC with 20. The loss means UIC (15-15, 9-8) will start HL Tournament play on the road.
Green Bay 70, Wright State 67. Green Bay (16-14, 10-7) clinched a first round home game and scrambled the top of the Horizon again by taking out Wright State. The Phoenix led for the final 35 minutes, and helped their cause with a 12-12 night at the foul line. Sandy Cohen led with 24 points. Loudon Love had 21 for Wright State (18-12, 12-5).
Northern Kentucky 65, Milwaukee 55. Northern (22-8, 12-5) took advantage of Wright State's loss to move back into a tie for first with a win over Milwaukee. The Norse used a 12-0 run early in the second half to overcome a 7 point deficit. NKU played without star Drew McDonald, who was banged up but is expected to play Saturday.
Titan Non-Conference Opponents Xavier 84, St. John's 73. Xavier's late drive into NCAA contention continues. The X-men (16-13) were impressive on the road tonight, taking the lead for good 1 minute into the game and fighting off a series of St. John's rallies. It was Xavier's 5th straight win.
Other Games Davenport 68, Grand Valley 67. Davenport (25-3) is GLIAC regular season champion in just its second year after moving from NAIA to D-II. The Panthers are ranked 11th in the country in D-II after holding on against Grand Valley (16-11).
#9 Michigan 82, Nebraska 53. Michigan dominant.
#1 Gonzaga 86, Pacific 66. #24 Wofford 80, Chattanooga 54. Wofford (25-4) wins its first ever game as a ranked team. California 76, #25 Washington 73. Cal entered with 16 straight losses since beating San Jose State before Christmas. Washington was 15-1 in the same time frame. I guess that's why they play the games.
UCLA 93, USC 88 (OT). Arizona 74, Oregon State 72. Arizona (17-12) got a bizarre put back at the buzzer to win. Western Kentucky 73, UAB 67. A couple of old rivals from the Sunbelt Conference's glory days, now in CUSA. Both teams end the night at 17-12.

Friday, March 1
Titan Non-Conference Opponents Bowling Green 77, Kent State 72. As they have most of the year, a couple of Detroit area guards led their teams in scoring tonight. Jaylin Walker had 26 for Kent State, and Justin Turner had 18 for BGSU. Both teams are 20-9.
Rhode Island 72, Dayton 70 (OT). The Rams (14-14) snuffed out Dayton's last A10 hopes, upsetting the Flyers (19-10) on the latter's home court. Dayton forwards Obidiah Toppin and Ryan Mikesell each had double-doubles, but their combined 49 points, 22 rebounds, and 10 assists wasn't enough, as star Josh Cunningham struggled to juts 4 points. Cyril Langevine had 26 and Fatts Russell 23 for Rhode Island. You don't see many players named "Fatts" anymore.
Other Games Loras 75, Albion 64. An old catholic Titan rival from 7 decades ago, Loras, beat MIAA champ Albion in the first round of the NCAA D-III tournament tonight.
#21 Buffalo 77, Miami (Oh) 69.
Iona 86, Rider 79. Iona clinched a share of the MAAC title. I was going to go to this game, but the missus thought we should go out to eat instead. Iona is just 14-15 overall, but 12-6 in MAAC play.
Harvard 59, Penn 53. Princeton 77, Dartmouth 76 (OT). Yale 88, Cornell 65. Yale (19-5) stays a game up on Harvard (15-9) and Princeton (16-8) in the Ivy League race.
Lipscomb 87, North Alabama 65. Liberty 57, NJIT 51. Lipscomb (23-5) and Liberty (25-5) tie for the Atlantic Sun title, but Lipscomb will hold the #1 seed in the conference tournament.

Saturday, March 2 Big weekend as the regular season starts to close.
Horizon UIC 80, Detroit 71. An eminently winnable game that was not won. Now it's to the tournament. UIC finishes the regular season at 16-15, 10-8, and will be the #5 seed.
Oakland 72, IUPUI 63. All five Oakland starters reached double figures as the Grizzlies (15-16, 11-7) sewed up the #3 seed. Ahmed Ismael had a double-double for IUPUI (16-15, 8-10) with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Cleveland State 89, Youngstown State 80 (OT). Despite the loss, YSU (12-19, 8-10) claims the #6 seed thanks to a pair of wins over IUPUI, giving them the best head to head record in the tied group of YSU, IUPUI, and Detroit. Young guards did well--freshman Darius Quisenberry had 32 for YSU and sophomore Tyree Appleby had 25 for Cleveland State (10-21, 5-13).
Northern Kentucky 86, Green Bay 82. A close, interesting game. Drew McDonald, still nursing minor injuries, didn't start for Northern, but Coach John Brannon turned to his star with NKU trailing and 15 minutes to play. McDonald responded with 13 points in the final 15 minutes, breaking NKU's career scoring mark on the way. Until then--and after--Jalen Tate carried the Norse, finishing with 30 points and 6 assists. Tyler Sharpe, an 80% free throw shooter, added some late excitement by missing the front end of a 1&1 with 8 seconds to play and the Norse up 3. But he ended up with his own rebound, was fouled with 6 seconds left, and then missed the first of two. He finally got one to go, giving the Norse (23-8, 13-5) a 4 point lead, the game, and a share of the Horizon regular season title. Sandy Cohen had 25 points and 8 assists for Green Bay (16-15, 10-8).
Wright State 65, Milwaukee 62. Wright State claimed a share of the regular season title and the #1 seed in the conference tournament by holding off Milwaukee. The Panthers (9-22, 4-14) came back from a 14 point second half deficit to take a one point lead in the final minute. They were still poised to win it after Wright State (19-12, 13-5) took the lead on free throws with 12 seconds left, but turned it over on the ensuing possession.
Titan Non-Conference Opponents Toledo 80, Central Michigan 68. The Rockets (23-6) sewed up the MAC West title with an easy win in Mt Pleasant. Central falls to 20-9 overall and two games behind Toledo in the race.
Eastern Michigan 75, Northern Illinois 69. James Thompson had 15 points and 17 rebounds for EMU (14-15).
Ball State 60, Western Michigan 58. Seth Dugan had 20 points and 20 rebounds for WMU (8-21), but it wasn't enough to overcome the Cardinals (15-14).
Ohio 73, Akron 49. Don't quite know what happened to Akron (15-14) today. This game was in Akron; the Zips won earlier down in Athens by 12 points. This game was not as close as the final score suggests, and it doesn't suggest a close game. Ohio is 13-15.
Villanova 75, Butler 54. Can we please stop all talk of Butler (15-14) as an at-large team?
Loyola (Md) 92, Lehigh 73. The Greyhounds (11-20) surprised Lehigh, preventing the Hawks (19-10) from tying for the Patriot League regular season title.
Other Games Indiana 63, #6 Michigan State 62. The Hoosiers (15-14) have just 3 wins in the last two months, but two of them are over the Spartans (23-6). The final score was Indiana's first lead since 2-0.

Utah State 81, #12 Nevada 76. The Utes (24-6) move a half game ahead of Nevada (26-3) in the Mountain West race, and take a huge step toward an at-large bid if they don't win the conference tournament. Sam Merrill had 29 for the Utes, whom Lunardi had as the last team in the field before tonight.
#13 LSU 74, Alabama 69. #14 Purdue 86, Ohio State 51. With center (and leading scorer and rebounder) Kaleb Wesson suspended, the Buckeyes (18-11) were pounded by Purdue (22-7), and can't be considered an NCAA lock. The Boilermakers, meanwhile, look poised to steal the Big 10 regular season title away from MSU and UM.
#15 Kansas 72, Oklahoma State 67. Dedric Lawson had 20 points and 15 rebounds as Kansas (22-7) rallied in the final 5 minutes for the win.

Georgetown 77, Seton Hall 71. Both the Hoyas (18-11) and the Pirates (16-12) will be waiting with baited breath on Selection Sunday. Prior to today's game, Lunardi had the latter barely in, and the former barely out.

Sunday, March 3
A few games: #9 Michigan 69, #17 Maryland 62. John Teske had a double-double, all 5 starters scored in double figures, and Michigan (26-4) seems to be regaining its early season form. Winning at Maryland (21-9) isn't easy.
Creighton 66, #10 Marquette 60. A bad week for Marquette (23-6), which lost twice and, and rather than wrapping up the Big East title this week, fell behind Villanova. Markus Howard scored 33 points, but no one else more than 7.
#25 Washington 62, Stanford 61. The PAC 12's only ranked team, the Huskies (23-6) barely avoided their second loss in the weekend trip to the Bay Area. They were surprised by Cal in their last game.
DePaul 92, St. John's 83. DePaul (14-13) is still fighting for their first winning season since 2007. Max Struss scored 43 tonight. St. John's (20-10) has lost 3 of 4. They're probably fine for the NCAAs, but they'd be wise to beat Xavier in the season finale, or at least win a couple Big East tournament games.
Louisville 75, Notre Dame 61. Notre Dame (13-16) will have a losing season, barring a long ACC tournament run. Marshall 85, North Texas 82. North Texas began the season 16-1, but is now just 20-10 and has lost 6 straight. That early season schedule included 3 non-D1 opponents, as well as the likes of Maine, St. Peter's, Maryland Eastern Shore, Pine Bluff, and Portland.
