There's at least a little bit on Boyd, McCormick, and Niles in this long thread: udtitanbasketball.freeforums.net/post/20758/thread. Note the "table of contents" in the first post to find the specific players.

an excerpt here. Part of an email correspondence Dickie had with Jerry Green:
“...Marquette a month & a half after we beat them won the national title. I really felt with Terry Tyler, John Long, the late Terry Duerod (broke my heart when his wife called to say Terry had passed due to cancer) Dennis Boyd, Ron Bostick, Wilbur McCormick, Wilbur Ross, Kevin Kaseta, David Niles that we could have been NATIONAL CHAMPS if we beat the Maize & Blue . . I had great assistant coaches DAVIS SMOKEY GAINS (passed a few yrs ago) MICHAEL BRUNKER.

I wonder what happened to Michael Brunker? He had a personality similar to Vitale I remember a trip I took to San Diego in 1984. I visited the SDSU campus and went to the basketball office (which I believe was in a large trailer at the time). Mike Brunker was an assistant coach with the Aztecs, he left U-D to be on Smokey Gaines’ staff. Brunker was in the office when I dropped by and was glad to talk to this visitor from Detroit about his time spent with the Titans. I wouldn’t say his personality was like Vitale’s, but he was a nice guy for sure. His profile on LinkedIn in indicates that he has held a number of leadership positions in business and community affairs and currently lives in the San Diego area.

Tom Young, head coach at Rutgers from 1974-1985, passed away last month at age 89. Young never had a losing season at Rutgers, and took the 1976 team--one largely recruited by Vitale--to the Final Four. The star of that team, that didn't lose until the NCAA Final 4, was Phil Sellers, a first team all-American. What's kind of interesting is that 4 players on that team went on to the NBA, with Sellers having by far the shortest career of the group (44 games, all with the Pistons). The team's top three scorers were Sellers (19.2 ppg), Mike Dabny (19.0 ppg), and Eddie Jordan (14.1 ppg). Sellers led the team in rebounding and Jordan in assists. All three were recruited by Vitale.

Vitale tweets:
“Putting the wrap on my last CHEMO treatment / Ringing BELL at about 6 PM / Dr Brown said all bloodwork results were very good & my body shows no signs of any cancer. Just won my NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP BABY! @marchmadnessmbb @espnpr @amyuf #awesomebaby”

I will bet he talks more about Notre Dame and Rutgers than about the UD.

Well in the preview K does mention Rutgers. There is an image in the preview, circa 1977, of Vitale with Titan players preparing for a game against Xavier.

I will bet he talks more about Notre Dame and Rutgers than about the UD. I'm sure that they will mention the floor being named after him, so I guess some people can count that as another "benefit" we got from naming the floor after DV. I wonder if we'll be U-D or "DM" during the doc.
