Never underestimate the ability of the HL to screw up seedings. C'mon Titans! Just go out and win the 4 remaining games so we can see how screwed up the formula really is. The league might as well require all teams to post a big sign at the scorers' table, for ESPN3 to televise to all: "We're stupid as hell." Actually, except for putting YSU ahead of us (is this because we beat them twice at their place, or because we're 3 games ahead of them in the standings?), this isn't too bad. Green Bay ahead of Milwaukee is very questionable, as Milwaukee is 1.5 up on the Phoenix in the standings and beat GB twice at their place. It seems pretty clear that the number of games played is the trump card, which seems kinda stupid--that's probably the last factor I would consider, so long as a team has played some minimum number (say 75%, as is used for individual stat leaders). Anyway, I hate to think where they'll put us if we lose to CSU, so we better win two more this weekend.

Complete and utter nonsense. This is the HL truly over-thinking it with this process and seeding. Idiotic. I hate it.
Mole, please insert all the flaming dumpster gifs you have available.

If we don't sweep CSU, they will probably put us in the Summit League.

Youngstown's 10 point win today at home versus Rochester U should vault them ahead of Oakland and NKU in the HL seeding. Under the HL's top-secret tournament seeding formula, it counts as a win over Oakland because both universities are located within a 20 minute drive of each other. Also, because it is YSU's second win over a non-D1 school, the formula moves YSU's seed above NKU because NKU cancelled its scheduled game against a non-D1 school due to COVID.

I think it's impressive that they've thought to penalize us because IUPUI had to cancel a series because of COVID on their squad. Most leagues wouldn't have thought of that.

Commish would you expect anything different from the Whorizon League. In an earlier post you quoted the statisticians handbook regarding TO's. You are an eternal optimist if you think the administrators care or their officials in this Mickey Mouse League can read.

This might be the only remaining opportunity for Titan fans to see the team live and in person this season. Once our seed/venue is announced, I'd advise to reserve tickets ASAP

Here the schedule for all the Conference tournaments - interesting that the Horizon starts 1st. Too bad the League didn't leave a week at the end for make-up games

The Horizon League just released the WBB tournament bracket a short while ago, I believe the MBB bracket could be out this evening as well.

So if we beat RMU, then we will play at Northern Kentucky for the quarterfinals. Let's make it 3 in a row over RMU!

So here are the first round matchups:
#12 Robert Morris @ #5 Detroit: Well, we've just seen Bob Morris twice. The have some good shooters, and we've seen them outplay the Titans for stretches in both games. But we've got more talent, we'll be at home, and we ought to come away with another solid victory. My biggest concern--all around the league, it seems fan boards, tweets, and beat journalists are warning about the dangers of facing Detroit. While that's kinda cool after so many bad years, as a contrarian, it scares me. I've always done well going against the consensus.
#11 UIC @ #6 Youngstown. UIC had a good start, then a long Covid-19 layoff, and they never seemed to get their mojo back. I would rank them the most disappointing team in the league this year. YSU has been a disappointment, too, now that I think about it. The two teams split a pair in Youngstown in January--so we know UIC can win there. I'll go chalk with Youngstown, but this is a candidate for an upset. Still, I'll go with YSU.
#10 Fort Wayne @ #7 Green Bay. Green Bay beat the Mastodons by 18 and 15 in Green Bay in January. In terms of matching personnel, this might have been the best draw Green Bay could get. Still, a really good shooting team like Fort Wayne is always dangerous.
#9 IUPUI @ #8 Milwaukee. The Jags lost at Milwaukee by 24 and by 8 in early January. But since then, they've gone 7-5, including a split with Milwaukee in Indianapolis, and they're 4-2 on the road in that stretch. Milwaukee is 3-9 since that first series with the Jags, and just 1-5 at home. One of those wins was yesterday, by 2 points in double overtime over Oakland, and another by 1 point in overtime at Cleveland State. The third was the game over IUPUI. I go back and forth on this one. Will Milwaukee be juiced after the win over OU? They've proven they can win close games. The computers tend to rank Milwaukee just a bit higher, and playing at home might help (but see above). Milwaukee in a close one?
Round Two: Remember, the Horizon will re-bracket, so if Robert Morris upsets us, they will, as the lowest remaining seed, play top-seeded Cleveland State in round two, whereas if we win, we will play Northern Kentucky.
I say we beat Bob Morris, which guarantees a game at Covington against NKU. That will be a tough game--we'll look at it closer at a more appropriate time, if we take care of business on Thursday.
The other games, if it goes chalk, would be: YSU @ Oakland Green Bay @ Wright State Milwaukee @ Cleveland State.
