Agreed..Why did we take a pass when there were 10 players available? .who made the final decision to not play? Was it a money issue? Continuing the season could have been a big plus for the team and for recruiting.... It seems that the opinions and desires of men players carries more weight than those of women players.

Coach said that he wanted to play in the CBI in order to use the tournament as a teambuilding exercise to replace the planned summer trip to Canada that was canceled due to COVID. Also, he thought we could win the tournament with the core of the roster that helped in our late season 11-3 run. If one-third of our serviceable scholarship roster did not want to play, then that would have defeated the purpose of making the trip to Daytona. Likely, we have seen two of the four players who did not want to play enter the transfer portal. And likely we will see the other two shortly. The coaches then made the decision to move forward and upgrade the roster rather than play 3 more games with 5 players not there. It's a tough decision because the coaches liked these guys and we like them. So, it's a bittersweet situation. But, the true net-net results can only be assessed after we see the rest of the new players.
As in pro sports, the NCAA has morphed the transfer portal into a free agent bulletin board - especially this season with players getting an extra free COVID year. Things will change again in one or two more years when players again will be able to go pro right out of high school. In summary, the coaches made a value judgment that it would be better for the long-term rebuild of the program not to play in the CBI without one-third of their scholarship roster and without gaining any benefit for next year by integrating new players into the team and system. While I personally would have preferred to see us play, I understand their decision and the reasons for it. And Davis was very candid about it during the this virtual event.
