While I am complaining about the inaccuracies of our Scorekeeper, Waterman shows 1 blocked shot in the box score and he blocked 3 shots. In the discussion above i wonder who was credited with a TO when AD threw a hard pass to Johnson in the corner and with Johnson fully extended and 20 + inches in the air the ball went just beyond his reach or an AD pass to Johnson above the key which was deflected by a FW player and Johnson dove for the ball and barely touched the ball with his finger tips as it went out of bounds. I an presuming Johnson received the TO's by our keeper or they were scored as team turnovers because two players were involved but in neither instance could Johnson receive the passes and Johnson is an exceptional athlete. AD had a very good game but he did have 7TO's not 4. Does it really matter though? The TEAM just swept another series and are looking much better as a TEAM. Does AD make bad plays throughout the games? Yes! As do other players. We can be critical about a whole number of players and plays from both of these games, but at the end of the weekend we swept another series and are moving up in the standings. Would I love for all of our players to be flawless every time they touch the court? Of course! But its not a realistic expectation. If we go on to win the National Championship and AD averages 10 TOs per game on the way there are we going to be complaining about TOs or are we going to be celebration a National Championship?

I think his point is that AD needs to improve in the turnovers area. If he's watched the game and determined AD turned it over 7 times, I've no reason to doubt that's the case. I'd agree that numbers like that require serious improvement. The team is absolutely getting better which is great to see. That said, IF AD averages 10 turnovers per game... we won't be winning the National Championship... so it's not a realistic take. We're a better team, but we're a long ways from being a great team and certainly are not a team that can give away possessions at a high rate and even make the tournament.
Here's to hoping everyone continues to improve and we build something that lasts beyond AD's 4 or 5 years in Detroit. The fact that we, as a fan base, are celebrating the shit out of 5 consecutive wins against subpar teams shows how big of a hole we've dug ourselves over the years.

I just kind of felt like man we actually have some positive momentum going right now, lets focus on that. Yes, the teams we have beaten are not great by any means, but these are teams that we have to beat to get to where we want to be. If I am being critical of AD, I too think he needs to improve his A/TO ratio, he forces a handful of shots each game, whether a off one foot falling away jumper from the corner or an early shot clock 3, but all in all he has much improved his ability to get to and finish at the basket. He is moving the ball much better offensively. I think he is learning that when he is on the court with Bul, Johnson, Frazer, Waterman, Rose, etc. That other teams now have to respect those guys so they cant focus solely on AD anymore, which provides him easier scoring opportunities when he moves the ball and gets it back in rhythm. I think we can be critical of different aspects of each players game as well as Coach's, however, I hate to focus on those things especially when we are on a bit of a run and have a big series coming up this weekend.

AD had a very good game but he did have 7TO's not 4. BTW, thinking about stat collection, I wish teams would start doing a full re-watch of the game to get stats right. Basically, I think they do get the stats mostly right. But like UP, sometimes I watch a game and I'm like, "I know X got two blocks," and he's credited with just one. Basketball is a fast moving game, and I think it's hard to be as accurate as possible in the course of a game. There are a number of plays, such as whether to award an assist, or a block, or to credit a rebound to a particular player or to the team, or whether to debit a turnover to a particular player, that require some judgment. Sometimes plays happen back-to-back, with very few seconds in between. Having the statistician re-watch the game, with the ability to stop play or rewind, would improve the accuracy of the stat sheets, and further improve our understanding of the game and the contributions of different players
